I am surprised at the variety of sounds I can get based on hand placement, Palm muting, etc.
I actually just came across my original invoice. My order was completed 9/21/2000 so yours would likely be within a month of that.
This thread is losing some steam so I switched from the Aguilar pj HC to Bartolini 9js original and love it a lot. Bartolini 9Js are even quieter than the Aguilar HC and a bit fuller in lower mids and more burnished highs. Paired with the Aguilar OBP1 it kills

Hi, y'all. I'm hashing through options while I've got time, cash, and hoping to pull the trigger this week. But I have a really dumb question. Anyone out there with a few extra seconds please advise. What does the "M" series change to a standard 5JJ? It's really not clear. No pick guard?

To your point, yes, that's the direction I want to go and I have always enjoyed he Roscoe basses I have played. Habitual preference for the old J/P style but with stepped up material, electronics. All the right reasons. Be safe and healthy and optimistic.

I'm hoping to be part of this group soon as I am eyeing a 2017 Roscoe Classic Custom 5JJ, 2 band (seems to be in mint shape),...but I have a couple questions, especially one that can be subjective, for anyone here that can help...
1. What would be a "good/fair" price?
2. Are ALL of these models routed for a swap to a P pickup? If so, standard size?

Others can chime in (especially if I'm wrong), because I'm actually an ex-classic owner, but:
1. Always hesitant to answer these $ questions, because every situation is different. For me, I'd say 1800-2200, maybe more if it had exactly what I'd want new. Anything under 1700 would pretty much be a 'steal' in my book.
2. To my knowledge, yes, all classics are combo routed. The 5 string P shell comes in 2 main varieties: short and 'long'-sized shells. The Roscoes use long-size 2.9" split P size, so, Aguilar, Delano, etc. fit. To my knowledge, Bartolini still offers only the smaller split P size which doesn't fit.

I know a lot of people like P/J basses and theres great debate about if a P/J sounds like a P when the J is off and all that. I have a P. I have a (not Roscoe yet) J. I don't know if a P/J sounds like a J when both are on. Guess I'm rambling but I like my P. I like my J. I don't know that I'd want a mix. Good thing there are choices. I used to have nothing bu "J" type basses. Then I went soapbar, and now a P to go with my others. I might play the jazz more I'd Mc it were a little better, but I just don't use/like that sound as much these days. As my 10 year old Says when we ask him why he doesn't like something he use to eat all the time...tastes change dad.
Yes, I know what you mean. It had been over 20 years since I had my last P/J. Once I got the Roscoe Classic P/J, that was a wakeup call to me, especially because I play in a group where I could really appreciate a soloed P sound as well as a scooped, 2-pickup sound. Specifically Roscoe P/Js are cool with me now.
i think six months qualifies as in the works. It takes about three months to get one every time i order one that doesn't need any innovation.
