Im sure its like anything else these days, repairs etc head to the back burner. They are a small operation as Keith has lost help over the years. You can find Bartolini parts online with a little digging.
Whats the fretboard wood on this number? Grain looks like pau ferro, but pics in high light look reddish like bubinga. Gorgeous instrument, congrats!
My dealer finally heard back from Keith regarding my Signature Lg6 order. Seems he doesn’t remember adding a passive tone to the standard 4 knob Bart pre.
I’ve sent him the Bart wiring diagram @Joe BassPlayer very kindly posted a few pages back, so I’ll wait and see what the shop has to say. I’m really hoping for a tone control on the 4 knob pre, but I’ll do without if they say no.

I had my LG modded by Keith’s shop for Coil tapping and active/passive and wanted a tone control but here was the reply from their former electronics guy (who did a great job with everything I ended up doing): “Yes, we have done this mod before. Always works best from the beginning but can certainly do it after the fact. Active/Passive circuits are useful. But in this case a passive tone pot is not an option without logistical issues. There again much easier to do in a new build.” I don’t know if this helps at all so good luck! Let us know what it comes out to. I personally like the look of the 5-knob configurations.
What's old is new. Maybe the best way to go is like this:
Passive only. Why? Onboard EQ is moot for many players, as they stack preamps, often to the detriment of instrument tone. Different strokes. .

Heeeey, another point of view in adding the passive tone definitely helps, especially from the old wiring guy. Thanks very much for the information! Hopefully Keith and Co. can take a look at the schematic and see it’s simple enough (I really don’t know if it is).
I understand people’s want for passive, being the clearest line from the bass to whichever amplification, and it being the most ‘natural’ or ‘organic’. But I love onboard eq, and I don’t use any pedals for effects or preamps anymore. I won’t pay 10k for a passive instrument, when I know the onboard preamp gets a great sound that I love.
I don’t disagree. My onboard preamps are pretty flat. Thy adds its own tone but…
Lately I’m playing my passive P. Volume and tone. I’m liking it.

I agree wholeheartedly but I went the opposite direction. I have mainly active basses and go ampless directly to the FOH and use in ears. With my active Roscoe’s into a good passive DI I get some of the best tone I’ve ever had.
I currently do this as well. Bass to compressor to tube DI. I guess I'm not stacking pre's but I still don't really use my pre's that much either. I think I use the tone control on my P bass more than any of the controls I have on my active basses.
Yes me too I love my Roscoes with Bart/Bart. I don’t need passive options. I guess it’s like the MTD and Modulus and Pedulla I’ve owned(none of those have passive options) I love the way they sound with the Bartolini or EMG system. Some people love the passive option to each their own.
I prefer both. Nothing worse than playing a gig when the preamp dies in the middle of a tune (and it’s not the batteries and you only brought one bass).
Plus with the newer designed preamps the passive mode is quite nice sounding.

I actually need to go over Johnny’s house and do an AB with his traditional Roscoe to make sure I’m remembering correctly. I don’t play a 5 much these days but when I do I miss that phat compressed sound of the Roscoe Barts.
