Roscoe Club

Currently in the market for a SKB Roscoe 5 string. Would like something rare and unique, so I'm being patient for one to come available. If anybody has one they would like to part with, let me know.

I would search Reverb

Yeah, you're doing the right things then. Sooner or later the right one will come along. I noticed from your profile and post history that you've had some nice Roscoes so that also tells me that you know what you're looking for and you just want the one that checks all of the boxes for you.
Just stay patient.
I will say this though, through all the years and the many, many Roscoes that I've owned, some of the best sounding and nicest playing Roscoes that I've owned weren't the best looking or maybe what I though were the best combination of woods and features. Sometimes you've just got to try a few before that ONE shows up.;)

One done, one to go! I hate unplanned “Gotcha”!

The right one did pop up a while back but I couldn’t buy it then. I’m in no hurry, so will sit back and enjoy the hunt. Thanks for the advise!

According to Roscoes IG, he’s got another build started. Only a matter of time friends.

There you go @jimmyfwl . If you like cocobolo just wait for like a month and an SKB 5 will be up for sale.

I saw the fretboard that was chosen to go with that bass (spalted katalox or whatever). I think a top with high contrast like that may look good with pau ferro or birds eye, but with another high-contrast piece of wood? Maybe I'll like it when its done.

Now this is a great 1-2 fretless punch. I was afraid they would sound too similar (what with the matching mahogany bodies, maple tops, maple necks, diamondwood boards, pickup placement, Bart preamps, roundwounds, and black hardware...hahaha). After playing and listening, though, the pickup difference (and I'll throw differing wood density/weight in that mix) creates a noticeable tonal difference. I can almost get the 'parallel mode' bridge position Roscoe Bart pup to imitate the single coil equivalent with the right eq, but these 2 basses really cover 2 different worlds of the tonal spectrum. Might be my 2 'forever' fretlesses!

Thanks to @SteveC and the wonderful TB member(s) who "spec'd, Plek'd, and modify'd" these 2 wonderful basses! Forgive the tongue-in-cheek hashtags:
