I installed a brass Hipshot on my Roscoe today. I’ve only played it a little but it did seem to change the mids a bit (in a good way).
I figure I love the tone of my Fodera and it has a brass bridge so why not give one a try.
it’s definitely heavier!
So just to follow up on the brass Hipshot installation, my LG-3005 weighed 8lbs 12ozs with the standard aluminum Hipshot bridge and now weighs 9lbs 3.2ozs with the brass Hipshot.
Not too heavy for Joe.. However, just imagine any of the macho boys or girls around here going to the gym and complaining or bragging about lifting almost 10 pounds?
Lifting no big deal.
Now suspend from one shoulder for four hours standing while using both hands...
..and factor in the 7-9oz strap! That’s a load for a retiree with grands on a 4 hour standing gig!
No Sweat, Soldier! You can easily do 10 pounds on one shoulder... and THANK YOU for your service!

What preamps come with the SKB-5 string models? Mine is a 2018 model

I've never installed a Sadowsky preamp in a Roscoe and I don't recall anyone posting having done so. I wouldn't think a 2-band in a traditional Roscoe would work very well though.
I installed a Flex-core in a Roscoe LG-3006 and it sounded excellent! I also really love an East and Nordstrand preamp in a Roscoe. All 3 can provide a great active/passive mode as well as the passive tone control.
The best bang for the buck IMO is the Nordstand preamp. I've had it in my last 2 Roscoe's and absolutely love it.
I have some sound clips of the Roscoe with the Pope Flex-core if you want to hear it.
Add a push/pull active/passive option to your volume pot and then try out the preamp pedals you are interested in. You can have as many preamp sounds as you’d like that way.
Hello - standard preamp for SKB 5 stringers is the 4 knob, Bartolini 3-band (with push-pull mid frequency select and rear gain trim pot). This is the standard pre for all 4, 5, and 6 string Roscoe LG, SKB, and Century basses from the Standard, Standard Plus, Custom, and Signature lines. Keith will put in whatever a customer requests/pays for, but Bart 3-band is the standard. I'd wager that's what your 2018 SKB has in it, but a picture could confirm that.
I've got Bart, Aguilar, and Nordstrand preamps in mine (like @Joe BassPlayer, I don't recall seeing a Sadowsky pre in a Roscoe). The Bartolini preamp is my favorite with the Bartolini soapbars and fretless basses, while the Nordstrand is my favorite with the SKB jazz bass (single coils). The Aguilar OBP-1 2-band boost: I really dont like it, but I bought it that way and I typically use that bass in passive mode (with flats). The Aguilar tone control comes in handy, being usable even when you bypass the preamp.
I’m at 7.5 weeks now in the quotation stage of trying to get my LG6 Sig specs locked away and deposit sent to get the build started.

Well the good thing is, if he's not replying back then it's because he's building basses. Not a lot of folks working at the Roscoe shop these days and Keith and his son Kyle pretty much keep their focus on building basses and getting them out the door. Sometimes it's just better for your dealer (or you) to just give Keith a call and talk.
Also, the best thing that you can do is get all of your questions together and asked them all at once. Then you can officially schedule the build, pay your deposit down and you go from being a tire kicker to a legit customer. You can imagine how many folks ask a lot of questions concerning a potential build that never officially start one.

I agree with your post, and am definitely glad that if the Roscoe shop are busy, busy, busy making guitars it’s all the better for them.
2 weeks for an email reply is getting silly. Then another 8+ days for another reply is… a little maddening. I’ve sent most of my wants to my dealer in the beginning. Calling North Carolina from Australia is not a regular thing for my dealer, who’s been dealing with Roscoe for a decade+
