totally agree, I’d love to see that shop tour as well, I was traveling yesterday and I missed it too.
I have an Audere in a Century. It took a while for me to find the setting I like, and that consistently works for me. I prefer flat mode (1 of 3 modes), series wiring (parallel and coil splits available), B, M, & T controls all set flat. None of the other "bells and whistles" are useful to me. Since it is OEM for the bass, and I found settings that work, I am happy with it. However, I'm not tempted to put one in another Roscoe.
Keith told me to expect about 6 weeks after I send it in. I hate to be without it, but I think it'll help "preserve" the bass for the rest of my days with it. I like to use a 5 for my cover band gigs (even though I only need it for maybe a song a set) as it's easier than changing basses. I could use my Classic P for almost everything I do really, and I have a friends Yamaha 5 string that I can swap to for those songs that really need it. Actually, for the songs that "need" a 5 string, I could do almost all of them by tuning DADG or using an octave pedal and playing up as they are pop/synthy songs anyway. I am seriously debating changing my beloved rig (Empress Bass Compressor and REDDI) to a PodGo or similar. I could have all that preset and use a 4 string. Don't get me wrong, I love my current rig, but I do sometimes think it'd be nice to have a couple effects, and downsize a bit.

Not knocking Keith and co., but things are taking a lot longer than planned at a lot of places (i have an order with another luthier and I was just told it may be about 6 months longer than I was initially quoted- "6 more months").

I've played my SKB 6 at church a few times since I got it but almost never play electric bass on gigs these days. I play three regular gigs each week and all are unamplified upright bass. Last night I played a gig on electric bass and used the SKB. My amp is a Mesa WD-800 head, Mesa Subway 112 and a Subway 210. The SKB was a joy to play and sounded fantastic.
I was quite impressed with the fact that I could play up the neck and the tone and clarity was so good. Most wood necked electric basses loose clarity as you move up the neck but the notes on this bass sound clear and defined. I was very comfortable playing it and there is a real feeling of freedom playing a bass that does not have areas on the neck you have to avoid because of inferior tone.
I paid more for this bass than any other electric bass I have owned and am so glad I bought it. It really is a fantastic bass and is so pretty as well.

I love the look of a Rickenbacker. I wish I liked the neck a little better. I had one WAY back in high school that I wish I still had. I don't know that I want one enough to buy one (purely nostalgia) but if I still had my "74 I'd try to use it.
I can identify. They are such iconic basses sonically and visually, but the few times I’ve had a chance to play one I just couldn’t get along with it.
