I hear rich mids, a warm but tight low end, and an articulate top. To me there is a Smith'esque sound that is a little broader in the mids (the Smith being very focused) and less pingy than the Smith which I would describe as a smoother top end.

This is a very good description if you’ve ever played a Smith. A Smith can get closer if you wire the pickups in series, but I do feel the Roscoe is just a more comfortable bass to play all around. Roscoe is the only brand bass that I’ve owned, that I don’t currently have, and would love to own again. It’s not for everything (a generally darker sound, low mid focused, and a bit compressed), but as others have said you can alter that some by choosing certain woods and electronics. They have a sound that is incredibly addictive, and they play like a dream. I still hope to own a 33 or 34” scale 6 one day. The current pricing is not musician friendly these days, but well worth the asking price if you can afford it.

I'm aware the shapes smallest to largest are LG -> SKB -> Century, but curious if there's much or any variation in one shape going 4- to 5- to 6-string, 5 to 6 specifically.

I have a Century 5 and 6 and the bodies are the same size. I think it is safe to assume the SKB bodies will also be the same size.

My 6 string SKB fits perfectly in the case for my Century 5. Evidently the case was designed to fit them all.

Looks like it needs some TLC. I first thought it had brass frets but zoomed in you can see they are just really dirty, or tarnished. There’s a video of the bass somewhere on YouTube when it was sold by bassclubchicago, and at the time it had an Aguilar MM pup, and the GC photo shows it with a Bartolini. I’d wager it still has the Aguilar pre.

For sure. The frets need a good clean/polish. The fingerboard probably needs some oil. A general polish, probably clean the pots, wipe it all down. New strings and set up. There’s probably a great bass waiting to be reborn.
