Roscoe Club

I've noticed that this LG-3005 is a bit unbalanced on the strap, leading to a slight case of neck dive. Neither the Cocobolo nor Quilt Maple ones I had in the past had any dive ... but both were much heavier. I'm thinking about moving the strap button position further up from the centerline to see if that helps. Has anyone here repositioned their strap button?

BTW: I will test it with gaff tape before I get the drill out ...

I’d try a Comfort Strapp (or another strap with a tacky surface that keeps the strap from sliding on your shoulder) before I’d drill a hole in the bass. Definitely devalues the instrument.

More knobs! You might've seen this if you follow Roscoeheads over on FershBerk. I'm not satisfied with the Maple ones with the Roscoe stripe. The idea of doing the stripe was the whole reason I got into turning. Feels like I'm improving my technique with each attempt, and developing a better process. Today, I finished these Burl Myrtle on Macassar Ebony with a Cherry binding. I recently restrung this CenturyFL with GHS Pressurewounds and I'm really digging the sound. Only other pressure/ground/half rounds I've tried were D'addario groundwounds and I was not a fan. These GHS have some bite! -but with minimal finger string-zing.
Wow! That fretless looks gorgeous!!!

Here's one the Rocketmusic built when Greg was a Roscoe dealer. I also remember a green flamed maple Thunderbird being built

I got my first one from him. I made him play it over the phone for me (I’m sure he was a little annoyed with the guy from North Dakota that couldn’t make a decision) so I could hear it as I was nervous about spending that much for a bass I had never tried. A beautiful used SKB 5 with an amazing red finish. People loved it. I didn’t get along with the shape/hang. Thankfully I was able to try a Century and the rest is history.

Bought this Roscoe two years ago, Superbly crafted and sounded great but the original bart preamp was failing. Did the most popular swap and threw in an OBP3 since it was the most readily available in my location + DCB pickups to best match the pre. I found the Roscoe barts somehow too dark (even though I love barts in my other basses). Enjoyed everything about the pre except the overly powerful bass boost eq of the Obp3 and excess in-baked mids of the DCBS. More research led me to the Nordstrand 3b-4a. Loved this pre more than any of the previous ones, all the frequencies in the right areas plus it gave me a passive option WITH tone without the need for holes in my beautiful top BUT it didn't quite have the perfect synergy/bond (to my ears ) with both the Roscoe barts or Aguilar DCBS. There was one final thing I decided to consider before letting go a superb instrument. A full Nordstrand setup. After a couple of back and forth with the fine folks at Nordstrand I pulled the trigger on Zenblades. It was a bit of a risk since I havent seen anyone actively rave about such a setup here before. After installing it this bass came ALIVE. Bass, Mids, Treble in the RIGHT proportions. Nothing missing from slap, fingerstyle to anything inbetween. I highly recommend this setup to anyone who for some reason doesnt bond with the bart and aguilar offerings! Plus its humcancelling and looks badass! (Mine is wired series for max output btw).
