Roscoe Club

I have a Skjold Lion's Pride 5 (jazz style) and Skjold Skjoldslayer 5, which are my main gigging basses.

The Roscoe OWNS the fretless territory! Just amazing!:bassist: I get compliments on its tone ALL the time!

I would love to get a fretted JJ SKB - ash body, maple neck and fingerboard, JJ pickups, spalted maple top.....more of a recurring dream than anything else. Maybe someday.....

What are the spec's on your Roscoe fretless?

Hey guys,

Might be asking for it in a Roscoe thread, but I'm wondering if any of you diehard Roscoe guys own/gig other basses? Just curious how "fanatic" you/we are?

Nope. I've gigged Roscoes exclusively for the past 3-4 years now. I've tried mixing a couple others into the fold (American Deluxe Fender 5, Zon Sonus Custom 5, Lakland DJ4, etc), but none of them have really done it for me enough to justify keeping.

For me, it's not so much being "fanatic", it's about having found basses that feel, sound, and play perfectly *for me*.;)

It's a Century Standard Plus 5. It's a beautiful mahogany body with an amazing flame maple top. Diamond wood lined board on a 3 piece maple neck. Bart pre and jazz pups in the "JB" placement. Black hardware - very important to the tone ;-)

I'll post a pic

Sounds awesome! Would love to see it. And yeah. Black hardware on a fretless has better "Mwah" ...right? :D

They do feel amazing, play beautifully and sound great. I'm not trying to be negative, just curious. I sometimes miss/want that "passive/active jazz tone" that isn't necessarily one I have found in any of my Roscoes yet.

Maybe I need to try something with the new Aguilar stuff?NI feel a little weird looking at basses other than Roscoe as I really do love them a lot.

Yes, just take this:

And substitute a set of the 5J-HC's for the PJ set, and you're there - Roscoe looks & playability, passive J bass tone.

Bada-boom.

My only gigging band is Country, when I took my Buckeye SKB to practice I thought I'd get some grief for bringing a piece of furniture, instead they flipped over it and suggested I gig with it. Depending on the venue I will.

Same thing has happened for me on a few gigs - I figured I'd get "pushback", but they love it.

FWIW, one of our bigger artist/endorsers is James Cook, who is the bassist for Luke Bryan. Roscoe WORK for country music too!

:)
