Roscoe Club

Yes, yes I would. That top and fingerboard are so awesome. But...I've had a 6 a few times (this particular bass more than once ) and were finishing a fairly expensive main bathroom gut and remodel and...some things never change as I go round and round.

No denying it is an amazing bass and certainly has big sentimental value. Although if you ask my wife (I sold a Yamaha BB 4 string she got me as a gift ) sentiment isn't a big thing for me and basses.

Question: What is the best option? 1) de-fret a fretted Roscoe with a zebrawood finger board, 2) have a fretless neck built for the bass, 3) buy a fretless Roscoe.

Not trying to be "Mr. Salesguy" here, but the real answer is "3".

We cannot make a zebrawood fingerboard fretless, it is not the appropriate material for that application; a replacement neck will start out in the $1500 range, depending on the specs; you can find a used fretless Roscoe for not much more than the replacement neck - for not much more than that (you can get a basic Standard 5 for $2725 with no options, and they're fantastic - it's what I gig on, actually!).

A little trip down memory lane...the first the first time seeing/playing it at the old Roscoe shop while a couple fellow "Roscoeheads" look on and Keith does some work.
