It's a shame the Demeter pre isn't available any longer. It's hard to do better in a fretted bass.![]()
Damn, look what's for sale again...
For Sale - Roscoe Century Standard 6 w/ Sound Clips
My first "custom" Roscoe. The one I went to NC to "pick up" that summer and used the next day for a lesson with Jimmy Haslip.
My wife would kill me...
Question: What is the best option? 1) de-fret a fretted Roscoe with a zebrawood finger board, 2) have a fretless neck built for the bass, 3) buy a fretless Roscoe.
... and a second vote for option 3!Just get a used Roscoe fretless. They don't come up often, though. Or get a new standard. They play and sound every bit as good as any Roscoe. I love te standard basses maybe more than the fancy ones.
... and a second vote for option 3!
So, the 'new standard' is not a Roscoe?

They are very Roscoe. Just a little more simple but the same guys do all the work and they are made in the same place.
Yep. And they sound best with that very important, black hardware!

So, the black hardware gives the bass a unique sound?Yep. And they sound best with that very important, black hardware!
