Roscoe Club

I can't believe I've never posted this here. This is my "baby". I bought her as a retirement present to myself when I retired from law enforcement. She's gigged most weekends, and never fails to amaze.

SKB3005, ash body, myrtle top, purpleheart board, barts with the aguilar preamp.

I'm REALLY jonesin for another Roscoe (j pickups for sure), but that's not likely anytime soon!

Wow!

Very nice! Some now I missed this one.

Congratulations of both the Roscoe and retirement!

I agree. I'm usually a black hardware guy but there are basses where chrome works and this is one of them.

+1... I was strictly talking about the 'gold hardware' comment that a poster put up. That, IMO, is rarely a good thing. For any more 'traditionally spec'd' instrument, chrome is the thing!

Since all the Roscoe's look quite 'boutique modern' to me, I prefer black, but pure IMO there.

Congrats! Nothing "Cheesy" about that jem. Welcome to the craziness of the Roscoe Club.

Sorry if I came across too harsh, Gard. A lame attempt at humor mixed in with a sour disposition (there is a certain tight end that is is a bit of trouble.... :rollno:).

Your bass looks awesome. Hope you land many gigs with her.

Sheesh, tough crowd.

I WANTED the chrome, because I like how it looked on this bass.

:spit:

;)

Y'all get what you want on your'n. I think the chrome WORKS on this one.

...oh, and it SOUNDS fantastic, just got home from rehearsal with it.

:bassist:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

...I was just being a wise@$$ myself! You bit!!!

:hyper:

;)

...y'all are all entitled to an opinion, and I can see how the bass would look great with black hardware - but I was going for a real contrast to the Stormtrooper with this one, and since that one is black hardware, I decided on the chrome for this one...if you look carefully, it's pretty much the mirror-image of the Stormtrooper:

Steve, I prefer the "jazz/Marcus" tone so the Bartolini dual coil sound is just not my cup of tea. Someday perhaps.

Gard, the pic of your two basses is now my desktop image!

You need to check out the AGV options, then. The more vintage sounding Aguilar electronics in a Roscoe instrument? Whoo-boy. That's a winner.

For those players that have asked the question "is a Roscoe a good bass for Black gospel" here's a great video that clearly states "YES"! What a great tone and feel.

Mississippi Mass Choir laying it down!

Joe- it's funny that you posted this. I listened to it the other day and was reminded how much I liked playing gospel. Then yesterday I got a call to play bass for the UF gospel band for the 2013-14 school year. Coincidence? I don't know but I accepted the job and I'm very excited.

Another great thing is my roscoe should be arriving right around when I start.

Hey Gard, any progress pics yet?

Cool Keith! No such things as coincidences in my mind!:)
That sounds like a great gig!
I can't wait to get your impressions on the new 30" scale Roscoe.

Joe-
It was good seeing you today. Your Koa bass is UNREAL. The set up and feel of the neck was great. I kept talking about with my wife. She loved the way it looked. It got me excited about receiving my lg.

On a random note- anyone close to the Atlanta area should check out the "bodies" exhibit downtown. Fascinating stuff. My wife and I both found it very interesting.
