Roscoe Club

Yes, and he still has a few more available I believe!

Better grab one while you still can!

Well, my Custom Classic just went into the paint booth yesterday so it will be a while before I buy another bass but when I do, I am pretty sure it will be a Classic P Bass.

If you look at my avatar you will see my Buckeye Beauty. Oh what the heck, I will just drop it here. Oh, and that is an Ebony fingerboard. ;)

Beautiful Bass! And please be sure to post pics of your Custom Classic when you get it!

Never. Ever. EVER. Do that.

Typically you won't harm anything, but first, there is no reason to do so. None at all. No matter what "they" say - because "they" are always someone that does not build or maintain musical instruments.

The worst that could happen is a permanent backbow being induced into the neck - highly unlikely with a Roscoe (multiple laminate neck, graphite reinforcement), but possible. Biggest thing is that you have now created a major headache when you restring the instrument. The setup will be all whacked out, and may take a few tweeks over a few days to get back to "correct" now.

As Joel (who also happens to fly commercial aircraft for a living, so he kinda has insight as well ;) ) pointed out - we ship them at tension, and in tune. So does every other builder in the known universe. If there were some reason not to, why would we do that? :)

Again, you almost certainly did no real harm to the neck, but you're going to be twiddling for a bit before it feels like it did before you did that. Get some sleep, you'll be fine. ;)

Ha..oops.. Oh well hopefully I didn't induce any permanent back now..

But even if I did, I'll just buy a new headless Roscoe bass..
So either way Roscoe wins and me too..

Just so you know I took off the strings to give to a friend and then had no time to put new ones back on..

Weird situation but it happens.

Anyway i can deal with the setup being whacky for 2 weeks.. If that's the only damage I did..

I still think even with a headless the ticket agents still might try to say you have to check it in on smaller planes... But hey, I'll find out when I get mine!

I'm on a CRJ700 right now and they were trying to force me to check it in.. But I just walked on the plane with it and threw it in a overhead cabin.. And I have a 35-inch LG Custom 5-string...

Go figure..

Pictures to come!!

This should be stickied somewhere if it isn't already.

Every bass/guitar I've ever had shipped to me arrived tuned up. Some were still in tune!

Anybody traveling with Roscoes (and you should be traveling because people should be hearing Roscoe basses..)

Just to let you know, with a skinny soft shell case, 35-inch 5-string Roscoes (with headstock) fit in overhead!

Plane had 2 seats each side..

And as for traveling with no strings over 30 hours, I guess no permanent back bow.. well, it definitely did bend, just not permanently. I think..

It looks like as soon as you string it up, it'll pull back to the right amount of relief.

I am really jonesing for this one but having a hard time in justifying it. I play in two bands, bluegrass and gypsy jazz so I don't know when I would play it. But still jonesing.

I wish I were in the market for another. I've done some business with Greg and it would be fun to have a RMLE bass. He's a great guy and has always treated me well.
