In my experience, jazz basses are kind of like blonde DD supermodel types. Sexy, but a dime a dozen these days. Give me the well-built natural Brunette that can hang and does the job right in all situations and gives you no fuss (a P-Bass). That's more my speed.

Oh, I'm in love with my newly acquired Century Sig 6J... It's as sexy as can be. But I do miss the precision pickup sometimes with I'm playing a gig with it. It's like the ability to cook.
I wouldn't know anything about this, but great question! No doubt there is a market for this, right everyone?

When I lived in SoCal, I sold silicone to all the special FX companies in the Hollywood/Van Nuys area. One of my customers lived in Toluca Lake, in a house that was Curly Howard's guest house in the 50s (cool, eh?). Mary Ann lived across the street from him; she liked the wacky weed.
She didn't retain the 60s looks, but he said she was extremely cool.My Century 6J is my go to for sure, especially for church. Also love my 5 for the cover band.
I've thought about going passive 4 P but can't seem to pull the trigger. I really USE my B string. Not my C so much, but I do. The 6 just sounds so good. Maybe the extra mass with the neck?
I agree, there appears to be a cadre who leans towards Roscoe and Dingwalls, I certainly include myself in that group. To me, they have the thickest fundamental tone and best Bs/necks in the business. There's always Fender and the ilk for 4s, but I haven't touched mine in a year and only keep them for sentimental reasons.

Worldeeter, I am going to be in your neck of the woods this weekend, one of my clients is having a meeting at The Renaissance, Asheville. You should bring your bass over. I am not sure how much room I will have in my car but if it will fit, I will bring my Classic Custom.
Let me know when you're here. I'm still moving in and unpacking boxes, but if I have some time this weekend, I can stop by the Renaissance with my SKB, and maybe a small amp.

Also, yeah, I get it - these are THE Roscoes, but man, those Classics are some kind of sexy, in a whole different light...I just posted pics of a sick Classic Custom on the FB page yesterday that made me think some very naughty thoughts....

Enjoying a listen of Jeff Lorber Fusion's latest release, "Prototype," appreciating fruits of some well-established collaborations that include bassist Jimmy Haslip.
Perusing liner notes, one finds a nice comment of thanks from Mr. Haslip. Here, he acknowledges Roscoe Guitars, and specifically Keith Roscoe and Gard Lewis.
No surprise, really. Just a nice, public affirmation of what Talkbass Roscoe Club owners know/have known. And, might as well send my expression of thanks to Keith and Gard for their latest efforts in Plek, setup, and finish repair of my treasured Roscoe. Cheers!
