Roscoe Club

Amps have never really been a part of "my sound" so once I settled on Genzler I was pretty set. But I know what you mean.

Sorry.

We do wired IEM's in both my groups. I use a Rolls PM50s as my IEM receiver/amp. I had Dave (Exaltbass) make me a cable that has a headphone extension and bass cable together. That way I have just one cable running between my board and my bass. You can kind of see it here.

The bass end of the cable has the 1/4" to plug into my bass and the female end of the headphone cable extension to plug in my IEM's. It works great. I have replaced the JDI with the OmniCabSim but this is my board.

I did listen to this unit and I'm liking it too, particularly for guitar! I just wish our church band and the club band I play in would move toward IEMs. Mostly the excuse I get when bringing it up is, 'I don't want to spend the money on it!'.

We have used the Cheap Galaxy Audio AS900 systems for years roughly 100-150 gigs a year and they work flawless. You will need to invest in good quality noise canceling buds, but the bass response is great. It's hard for me go fill in with other bands that don't use them once you get used to them. Really makes a huge difference in your ability to hear what you want in your mix.

I had custom IEM built and bought a small 4-channel mixer with cables. I'm aggressively moving toward using my IEM in both playing situations even if I'm the only one using them. But one of the problems at church is getting the proper feed and mix from the board that's on the opposite end of the building from the stage.

The strings I ordered Monday from TB Store just arrived!!

I messaged them asking for DR Pure Blue to have sets that offered the 130 B String and they said would start stocking them. I've been a BSO user for years but lately I'm beating his price on 2 sets by 7-$8. I also always get a Cloth for wipe down on my basses. Killer service and prices so it's hard to not order from them.

IMO, you will need a compressor that gives you control over all the parameters - this is not a job for a 1-knob unit...
For evenness you'll want a low threshold and fast attack so it's "always (or mostly) on."
Coupled with fairly low ratio to preserve some dynamics.
It's a constant balance...
You may find that your technique improves at about the same rate you come to terms with the compressor settings ;-)
I like mine and what it does for the sound - especially live, where it's more audience-protection screwup insurance than anything ...

Yes to all the above. I ordered a used Alesis Nano Compressor from Reverb. It got really good reviews for use with a bass.
Hopefully it'll work out. Worse case is I'm out $50 until I sell it.
