Roscoe Club

So I went to the Roscoe Face Book page and was looking at a photo and while I didn't notice it at first (I was checking out the bass and guitar), upon the second glance I saw something in the background that just cracked me up!
Check it out.

A good friend of mine (TB'er J2KBass) built a 30" scale LG Roscoe a few years ago and loves it! I was shocked at how good the B string sounded. He went with the short scale due to hand issues and it's worked our great! Maybe Keith will chime in. I think that you'll be really happy with the build.
Roscoe's work in any scale!:)

Here's the specs a couple pics. It almost looks like a guitar.

That looks really cool! I was actually going to change the scale to 32" at the last minute but I had ordered some custom shorter B strings and they were already in production at that stage so I stuck with 33".

The other thing I asked Keith to do was make sure the "center line" (bridge, pickups and neck pocket) of the bass was kept towards the back as much as possible to keep the reach to the 1st fret closer. I'll lose a small bit of access to the upper frets but I'm fine with that as I'm never really up there anyway and having something that's more comfortable for gigging as much as I do was more important to me.

I've never owned an LG. My fretless 6 is a Century and my fretted 6 is an SKB. I honestly feel very comfortable with all thee of my Roscoe basses. The Century 5 is the only one that I took time bonding with and that is because of the 19mm string spacing. I like the 18.3 better but finally did adjust to 19mm and I am happy I did because that is a killer bass.

The differences between the bodies aren't as dramatic as you'd think. Even so one will usually be more comfortable than the others. Just different strokes for different folks I guess.

It’s the “hang” more than the bodies. The Century having its strap button at the 12th fret makes a difference. The others are around the 14th fret.

Gorgeous bass brother. How are you liking it so far?

I haven't had a chance to plug it in yet. I had an early start gig tonight and just got home.
I have a ritual I have to complete first for a used bass. If I get a new bass from the builder I will only adjust the action and gig from there. When I get a used bass, I have to clean it up, put new strings on it and set the action, then I can gig from there. It's just my thing.

I've had all three body styles and was happy with all three. I've gravitated to the Century just because of the deeper lower cut-out. I play sitting, and the deeper cut-out seems to keep things more stable.

But, they are just three different flavors of great.

;)

I've had all three, too. I sold the SKB for reason that escapes me now, and would like to own another someday, but I like the smaller body LG best - But I like them all, so....
