A bit off topic but: I'm loving my shorty roscoe so much that I'm already daydreaming about a fraternal twin.

So here's my question- has anybody seen Bartolini pups with wood covers? Is it even possible? Has it been done aftermarket?

The only ones I know of that did that is Warrior. What they did was grind the top of the pickups off then glued a wooden top to them. Have a look on their website and decide what you think. It's an unusual alternative.

I really haven't played it much Keith. I got it home last night and plugged it in for a few minutes and it played and sounded really nice. It's got a totally different sound than my mahogany LG-3005. Killer finger and slap tone. After a few minutes though I went through my normal routine of oiling the finger board and installed new strings. I let it setup last night and I'll set it up this evening.

....... one thing that I do know though is that I really like the black hardware!:D

I know that Deon sent a few sets of Nords to Carey Nordsrand to have them done and it seems like he might have sent some Barts to THG to have done but that might have just been new wood tuners and knobs. I bet that he would do Barts too though.
Deon's definitely the king of wooden bass accessories so you might check with him and you can check with Roger at THG and see if he does them.

The glued on tops that Warrior does look very cheap and they tend to chip along the edges. Just my opinion though .....

I came real close to buying that bass at ABG when it first got there. I played it for hours but, I had to sleep on it. After a few days I went back with the full intention of buying it however, that six string all of a sudden showed up and it won out.

The burl on your bass is phenomenal. I don't think any photo can do it justice. The sound is also a little fuller than my old ash JM LG.

How do you like the 19mm spacing? It felt like a Roscoe neck but, just a little different.

The bass is really nice. Prior to the Bass GTG I would have never given much thought to getting a Roscoe with the JM or MM option. Of course after getting a chance to play a couple of the MM models at the GTG I was quite impressed with the sound! I was quite surprised at the how many useful sounds I could get with the MM p/u. I'm even more impressed with the useful sounds with the added J neck p/u.

I've had been switching back and forth from the Roscoe 18.3mm and the Zon 19mm for a while and to tell you the truth I don't feel much difference between the 18.3 of my LG and this Century at 19mm. Both feel great. Both feel like a Roscoe. Probably a bit better to slap on the 19mm (especially given the fact that I don't do it that often).
One thing that I noticed right away about the MM p/u is that is has some really (and I mean REALLY) nice glassy highs!eek:

HEY EVERYONE - I'm looking for a little input.

I'm going to bass central tomorrow because I'm thinking of getting a new rig. They have a TON of stuff. And I'm curious peoples opinions on amps/cabs.

What am I looking for -

A relatively light weight amp and cab(s) that is very versatile. I like to be able to go from a good hifi slap sound to old school r&b to jaco back pickup( ive just now started to enjoying the feel of the jaco bridge pickup with my roscoe shorty:bassist::bassist:) I need something that can get LOUD if need be.

Things I'm already wanting to check out -

Mesa Prodigy -( 30lb tube amp ive got to try)
Phil Jones m500( ive recently bought the cub and love it so much I have to check out this head. Its 42lbs but I've got to check it out anyway.)
EA iamp pro
multiple Genz benz heads

Berg -hd 112
Berg - cn 112
berg - cn212
Phil jones - neo 8x6 cab

Feel free to comment on anything I'm wanting to check out or leave suggestions on something else.

Not sure how loud your stage volume needs to be Keith but you know that I love the tone of the Berg 112 cabinets. The 212 Berg might be your best choice though because it would allow for the extra volume that you might need from time to time.

Of course you know that I'm a big fan of the MB Big Bang. I hear great things about the EA iamp heads but have only played through one of their combo amps. Never heard it paired with a Berg.
Of course the Genz Benz heads are good. You can't really go wrong with any of those. I will say that IMO the wattage ratings on the Class D amps can be a bit deceiving. My 500W RMS MB Big Bang seems every bit as loud as my former 900W RMS Genz Benz SM 9.2 head. Of course I've only played both of them through single 1-12 cabinets. The GB might sound louder at a 4 ohm load (than the MB BB at 4 ohms).

Joe - I'm right there with you on all of that. I guess its just a matter of picking a favorite.

etoncrow- Thanks for the suggestion. Ive heard good things about EA stuff and will check it out. Do you own the wizzy 12? I've never played out of a 200 watt cab. Would that leave me wanting? Also - the wizzy is supposed to have a "tweeter" that is not separate. In my experience tweeters can sometimes pickup awful sounds( bad wiring?) depending on the room/building. So I like cabs that can turn off the tweeter if need be. Can you do that with this cab? Also might check out the 2x10.

groberts - thanks for the input. I'm definitely checking it out.

I definitely dig the wood choices. I'll I have to get use to looking at it. It's certainly portable and it's definitely not "your daddys Roscoe".
