So, I just watched a video by Bass Musician Magazine from NAMM 2020 about these GR Bass Ultra-lite bass cabinets from Italy. I'm still trying to process a 33 lbs., 1200 watts, 4X10 cabinet!!! Of course, the other cabinets are even lighter!

Let's see. I can have a hand made in the US Roscoe P for $2,000+
or I could have one of fenders newest Custom Shop basses for $12,500
Not bashing Fender really, just trying to understand. I can't think of a player whom I love so much that I'd pay that kind of money for a bass like his. Now maybe f it were the players bass...

It would take a person with more money than brains to give that much for any Fender lol.
Right! Not a Fender bass fan, but I like the sound of their guitars, although I've never owned one!!

To each their own and all, but I could buy a number of Roscoes for $12,500. Or a Fodera if that's your thing. The list goes on and on. I'm not a big Fender guy so I am biased but they are mass produced (save the custom shop) basses made in a number of places. I'm not 100% buy american or anything, I like a deal, but I don't mind that my 3 main basses are made in the US by a "small" company. I always try to buy local" if I can and support small business. Yet, I do have a number of things on my Amazon Wish List. I'm not perfect.
I tell you what. I have never been a P bass guy. I avoided them on purpose for a while as I didn't want to be like everyone else. But playing this Roscoe Classic P almost has me converted. I haven't played my fretted 5 (my go to for years) since I received this bass. Sure, honeymoon and all that, but this bass has a certain "punch" that the others don't. I still LOVE those other basses, and for some things they are the better choice. Except for some range issues, I could see myself playing this bass a lot - even as my first choice. Fortunately, I don't have to choose/sell anything so I have the luxury of having 3 amazing basses to pick from every time I play.
They are. I didn't mean to imply that. I meant that for less money I can still get a made in the US bass, by someone I have met and hung out with. That's pretty cool. I can't imagine playing anything other than my Roscoes. They just fit and work.

It’s hard for me to believe that any solid body electric is worth $12k. For that kind of dough you can get a really good quality carved upright, where the extra money really does buy a much better quality sound.
and having owned several Fender Custom Shops, it will still need a fret dressing to make it playable in the upper register.
Actually, the EVH guitars are made by Fender.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Roscoe sounds just as good as the Fender. Even a Fodera P bass is way less than that Custom Shop.

Went to the store to make a deposit and someone already had it on layaway. I hesitated because it appeared to have been modified. The Aguilar pickups had a lot of space around them.
Anyway, this 8lb bass had the most comfortable neck I've ever held. Second would be the other Roscoe I posted about a few months ago. Apparently, these basses are really good for my style of playing. It's like the strings are right where my clumsy fingers expect them to be.
Anyway, I'll be keeping an eye on it still. Up here, Sam Ash and GC are across the street from one another and I've left my phone number at the desk, in case another Comes through.
