That's what I heard but I never actually asked. They don't seem to have the colored ball ends but that is probably something you get on big bulk orders like Roscoe does.

Those are the strings but Roscoe does not use all the same gauges as in the commercially available packaged sets. This was covered petty recently - within the past month I think. Shouldn't have to go back very far in the thread to find the specific gauges used.
I like Roscoe's custom D'Addario set because the B is .125, which I can't find in any D'Addario or Ernie Ball sets at my local music shops. All are .130.
Have been looking for this as well. Just going to buy 4 string sets with single .125 B strings. I don't need extra long length.
I'm getting where I like the lighter gauge B string better myself. Always used 130 or even 135 in the past.
I've also gone from ~.130 on down upon using Roscoes. I'm now at .120 on the B, and it still sounds great when I drop it to low A with a Hipshot detuner.
Best roundwound strings that I've played are the Fodera strings that have a .128 B string I believe. Wonderful strings, just pricey.
How long do these strings typically last for you? I can usually go about 3 months before my Dunlop Super Brights go super dead!
I'll 2nd that as I tried those and loved them. Probably like them as good if not better than my favorite Pure Blues.
I have't used rounds for a long time until recently, so I can't remember unfortunately. Sorry. They are WELL worth trying though. Really exceptional strings.
I also prefer Dunlop Superbrights, and I get about 2-4 months of nice, bright tone before they start to go downhill. However, they take a year or more for me to really consider them 'dead'. I think it has a lot to do with your skin chemistry, string care, and hours of use. If I just had one bass, with my skin chem, etc., I'd probably be changing roundwound strings every 2-3 months. Never wore out a set of flats, though.

I inadvertently found my new favorite string recently. D'Addario NYXL nickels.
I was looking for a tapered B string for a Warwick and found the NYXL's came in this so ordered from amazon. Liked the string alot so tried a set to go along with it. It helped that amazon had them on sale for $17 in late December. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! Amazing strings that I would have probably never tried if it wasnt for the above. I was a dyed in the wool DR guy before trying these
They are pricey for sure but i soak my strings in a pvc pipe with denatured alcohol so i can get some great mileage out of them.

Hmm. Maybe I need to give the NYXL's another shot. I tried them once, though not on a Roscoe, and didn't care for them. I actually thought the standard XL's sounded better. I too am a DR fan (especially Pure blues, Sunbeams, and Fat Beams).
To be truthful I didn't think they were anything too special when I first put them on and played them at home. Its when I played live that i really liked them. Our soundman even came up to me after the gig and and asked what I added to my rig. lol.

I gig one fretted and one fretless for civilian gigs. The Army supplies strings for the military gigs I perform. I will try the Foderas next time I purchase strings for my personal fretted bass.
Do you all prefer the 45 105 set, the 45 100 set, or the balanced tension set that's 45 107 for D'Addario XL's?
