My 2 new Roscoes are 9 pounds and that’s a good weight for SKB’s. I requested lightweight Ash for the bodies and that really helps.

My Buckeye Bass is a standard plus but has more options than most Custom model basses. The Koa bass is a Custom with a lot of upcharges.

You would think the LG’s would be the lightest of the Roscoe line.
What body woods were used on the +10 lbs LG?

Flame maple top. Not sure about the body. Looks like its ash.

That looks like ash and that’s really off that it weighs that much with the LG body. I’ve only had one LG and it was a heavier mahogany body and it weighed a little over 8 pounds. I bet your LG sounds good though.

Ya man. It does sound great. It's my favorite in tone and neck profile of the 4 Roscoe I have. Least favorite astetically....
Could be swamp ash. I have had a few very heavy ash body basses before - Warwick $$ 5 & a Fender Deluxe Jazz 5.
The weight does not bother me. I'm used to heavy basses.

That’s interesting that a small LG weighs that much. I didn’t know the weight of a bass
influences its sound. I’ll have to be content with the sound of lighter basses.

Actually, I like using 3.5 to 4 inch straps, but they just don’t make a 10 pounder lighter on the back!

The older the back, the lighter the bass! I can gig 9 lb basses, 3-4 hour practices, I need less. My back is pushing 68 years and 30 straight years of gigging.

Most of my Roscoes have been right around 9.2 lbs

Makes me wonder if the body is northern ash instead of the swamp ash that Keith typically uses. Northern ash can be a bit heavier.

My fretted 5 is very light, under 8 pounds I think.
My P is light as well, probably around that, maybe less.
My fretess is mahogany so it has a little more weight but not unbearable at all, under 9 pounds for sure.

Wanted to let you long time Roscoeheads know that Deon’s (Nine-and-three-quarters formerly Sha***) wife past away the other day from a short battle with cancer. Deon was a huge Roscoe lover back in the Gard days and always trekked from just above the Atlanta area to our Bass GTG’s. We shared many a Roscoe over the years!
I know that Deon would greatly appreciate our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time for him and his family.
