Roscoe Club

Played my Roscoe with the new Nordstrand preamp through the GBE750/Berg HT322 rig today.
Talk about the holy grail of tone!
Wow!
I was quickly reminded of why I love Roscoe’s and high end bass amps/cabinets.
I suspect that the low end rumble from that rig killed any Coronavirus within a 100 mile radius!:roflmao:

My Roscoe LG with a Nordstrand preamp really sounds great with the Chromes on it, better than the Demeter preamp to my ears. I briefly had the Demeter preamp in the Classifieds until I realized my MTD Kingston ZX5 had the correct holes predrilled and the electronics cavity had room for the Demeter preamp.
Once installed, the MTD that already had good modern sounds with Bartolini was enhanced with the Demeter! It seems the Demeter preamp and Chromes aren’t a good match when wanting a certain sound. The MTD has an old set of Pure Blues strings on it, but it sounds amazing!

I think I seen a pic of your Buckeye knobs for your Roscoe. How did they turn out?

The matching of the knobs to my Roscoe is not quite what I like, though.
The two wood tones are off just enough to cause my OCD to flare up and I didn’t know I had that issue!

I have some Tru-Oil (Gun Stock Finish), but the knobs were glossed over, so I don't know if the oil will penetrate into the wood.

The aging of the Roscoe has turned the Burl a darker brown and the knobs are probably from much younger wood and it has like a greenish hue.

:) I don’t have access to a buffing wheel and I don’t what tripe E is.
I suspect the idea is to rub off the gloss finish? I suppose I could build a jig for a hand drill and use it.

I was thinking of a two step process. The first being rouge which would definitely take the gloss off the knobs. My experience is that it will also darken. The second step (triple E) is a fine polish. It won't add shine, but will give you a very smooth feel.

So not necessarily remove the finish, just de-gloss and slightly darken.

No good way I know of the accomplish the same thing by hand.
