Roscoe Club

I finally ironed out the specs and went with my 2nd favorite pickups and favorite preamp. Nordstrand DC5 and Nordie preamp.

Way to go on the pre - I think you'll like it. Here was my attempt at getting you to order the Bart Js. Just recorded this morning:

Bonus point: anyone that gets to the last lick of the video and names the song/artist that influenced that bass lick gets a 'like' and +5 'good ear' points!

Speaking of LGs...

I've been quietly back in the club now for a couple of weeks. I made a good deal and purchased this knowing I probably would not keep it. I'm sure I can get what I paid for it down the road. I've owned the other 2 body styles but knew the LG was my favorite visually but never really played one for an extended time to see how it feels and hangs. Now I know for sure and will order one to my specs in the fall. I'm hoping to combine what I've learned from all of these and combine in one that will be a keeper.

My 1st. One of the 1st generation standards. This thing weighed 7 lbs!

My second. An early Century originally owned by Mo at Nordstrand. An amazing bass with 19mm spacing, an ebony board, Demeter preamp and coil switching. I sold it back to him. This monster was the heaviest bass I ever owned at around 11 lbs.

My 3rd (you're welcome, Joe!). I don't think I need to add any comments about this one.

Could anyone who had a recent build tell me if there was a discount since you could order direct? You can reply by PM if you like. I plan on calling Keith soon to spec one out but I know they're really busy now and did not want to bother them till I'm ready to put cash on the table.

So Keith has a bunch of bodies that are ready to carve and finish that he's putting out for a bit of a discount. The difference is that you're limited to what he's got in stock. However, I got an amazing spalted maple top on a Spanish cedar body for a good price.

Call him up, give him your budget and see what he can do for you. He's honestly a good guy who will do what he can to make sure you can get the most out of your money.

Nice playing and great tone. Yeah I know a lot about the Nordstrand Preamp as I've had several basses with this preamp and the DC5 pickups and loved the tone. My favorite preamp by far.

Nice clip and bass lick at the end but I have no idea who the song/artist is that it was borrowed from. I guess no “like” or “good ear” points for me!:)

Yes on the fretted, but no on the fretless. In fact, the old fretless sets are going on the fretted. Weird, but I like it.

Not weird! My fretless probably won’t get to wear another set of strings under my watch. I bought flats for them that should last my bass playing life time.
What is weird is having a bass made with images of alien faces on it! :D

This bass is so fun to play. Keeps getting better each time I pick it up.
