Roscoe Club

Lol I couldn’t resist Gary.
I figured that it might generate some pics, opinions and ideas!

Yeah, I've got a couple of ideas for Keith to consider. If Keith and I don't come up with something we both like a lot, no worries, we can drop the project.

If you haven't seen Sadowsky's website lately, he's making a nice looking single cut bass. And Pete Skjold's Whaleback seems to be very popular now.

I appreciate all you guys and the zeal of your new builds. I guess that we all have that time in our lives where we really enjoy the new builds. I certainly had my time doing it back in the day.
Pretty content these days. Nice place to be actually.
But I do enjoy living through the new builds of everyone one in the thread.:)

Check out the newest Classic Keith just finished today. I’ve never been one to like the classics but this thing is gorgeous.

So I've been thinking about calling Keith lately- for a new LG5- a Roscoe Bart/Bart, (because my 2 LGs right now are not enough) and putting some money down on another piece of spalted maple. Then I got to thinking- would a spalt body on a spalted rosewood fretboard look... too... spalted? I'm not sure...

You guys can have your KOA and Burl... Spalted Maple is where it's at! ;)

Beautiful top!
But For some reason I have just never warmed up to block inlays. Especially black on a maple board.
They are just so conspicuous.

They are. I think you like it or you don’t. Some Pepe like pearl inlays on maple so it’s more subtle. That’s ok too I guess. I like my plain boards, and the dots on my classic P

That's because you guys are old school lol. Nothing wrong with that. I like a little flash though.

Hate to be the one to break it to you Shane but that look is old school. It was first introduced in 1974 (the year I graduated from high school).
Nothing new about that look. It’s just a personal preference. I didn’t like the look then and don’t like it now.

Of course I don’t like white wall tires either.:D

I don’t like the looks of most single cut basses I’ve seen, but I like the look of the G&L ASAT bass. Sort of a classic tele kind of shape. Never played on so can’t comment on the feel.

I like that style of single cut too Oren.
I’m not a fan of the bass body extending all the way to the 12th fret though.
It just creates to much body for me.

So true about the block inlays!

But I'm thinking about a set of these for my CX9! What do you think, Joe?
