Roscoe Club

I've actually never heard of them. Will see what I can find on them.

I'm sure Nord, Bart, Delano, etc. Can make a single coil (or single split coil) in our Roscoe P4 shape. P4 is usually used for 6-string as it's a little wider shell, but Keith uses P4-shaped pickups in the 5ers as well.

@Bassworship1 - did you ever consider having Keith put in single coil Bart P4s (or whatever a preferred brand might be) into your myrtle SKB? It wouldn't exactly be a jazz bass, but it could provide you with that single coil tone. If you don't like them, I'll buy them from you.

Someone correct me as its been a little while. Arent the standard Roscoe Barts Quad coil? Ive got a set of Bart CB Quad coils in my Lakland and have them on a switch. I can go from Single coil to Dual with the flick of a switch.

Roscoe Barts are quad coil. I think you might have used a contradiction of terms in the Lakland pickups. I don't believe that standard Bartolini CB's (Classic Barts) are quad coil. To my understanding they are 2 different models that Bart offers (CB and Quad Coil).

IIRC, Standards and Standard Pluses have 'off the shelf' Bart dual coil humbuckers (on their website, simply 'soapbars'), and Customs and Signatures have the Roscoe-spec Bart Quad coils. The Roscoe-spec quads and the 'off-the-shelf' quads have the wiring capability to do a series/single coil/parallel 3-way switch, or a 2-way switch with any 2 combos you want.

My fretted Standard PLus is basic pups. My fretless had the "conversion" to Quad Coils and mini toggles for each pup. I'm tempted to send my fretted in for the same modification, but it's sounding SO GOOD lately I'm not sure I want to mess with it. I like teh option on my fretless as I can make it nice and mellow or a little more aggressive.

I'm guessing the series output on your quad coils is the most aggressive sounding? I had a Modulus and a custom-ordered 7-string that had Bart quad coils with switches, and I really enjoyed the switching options. I remember one of my favorites was single coil neck and series bridge. Or, very polite-sounding both parallel. It's good to have options, but if it ain't broke...

...but then again, you'll never be able to A/B the sounds unless you record them both ways and use your ears!

Bartolini MK5CBC-T MK Soapbar 5-string Bridge Pickup

These are what I speak of. I think the word Quad coil was misused. I meant 4 conductor.

See above. Do the Roscoe "Dual Coil" CB's have 4 conductor? I love the versatility but will say I use the basic "All on" more often then not. It is nice to have tones at your disposal.

I am guessing both the SKB I had and the Century I am patiently  waiting for Keith and son to return had/have quad coils as I see two leads from each of them taped off at the end.

What is it about Roscoe fretless basses that makes them so desirable?
They're designed and made by master artisan luthier Keith Roscoe. His mojo and magic are part of the greater-than-the-sum scenario. Aside from what's already been mentioned, the 35"-scale neck is not only great for the B-string, but all others too.
