What I really wanted was a six string MM but, no one makes it.
I wonder if they'd do a bass with humbuckers in the JB position . . .![]()
I think that was done not too long ago. I want to say it was buckeye century.

It cuts through beautifully, while still sounding fat and full. Exactly what I was hoping for. I honestly wouldn't mind having a fretted with the same specs now, but I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon.Forgot how sweet Ryan's turned out.

I can. Now to decide if that's the way to go. My old 6 is available as well. Neither one is necessary and either one would ad it's own thing to what I practice at home.

Ryan, what's that one weigh? I love mahogany (some is light, some not so much) but with my old back I really need lightweight.
OK I now have both of my two new to me Roscoes!

Only took me 17 years but I made it into the club!
It's right around the 9 to 10 lb range, maybe a touch more. I specifically told Gard not to worry about weight with this one (just like I did with my others). I prefer my basses to have a little weight to them, for some reason. I use 4" Italia straps and don't notice the weight a bit.
I'm sure they could find the right piece of wood to build you a lighter one than this, though.

Love that fretted. Is that Walnut?
Yes sir, Burl Walnut top, Mahogany body, Wenge, Maple and Purple Heart neck and exhibition Cocobola fingerboard.
A quick question for Roscoe experts:
What are the general characteristics of/tone differences between Pau Ferro, Chechen, and African Tulipwood fretboards?
I've owned several Roscoes over the years and and am considering having another SKB Custom 5 built. I'm probably going with an Ash body, Quilted Maple top, and the Aguilar DCB/OBP-3 system.
I'm very familiar with the look, feel, and general tone of Pau Ferro but Chechen and African Tulipwood are very interesting aesthetically. Just wondering what the Roscoe community thinks about these different fretboards to complement these tone woods.
Thanks!
