A quick question for Roscoe experts:
What are the general characteristics of/tone differences between Pau Ferro, Chechen, and African Tulipwood fretboards?
I've owned several Roscoes over the years and and am considering having another SKB Custom 5 built. I'm probably going with an Ash body, Quilted Maple top, and the Aguilar DCB/OBP-3 system.
I'm very familiar with the look, feel, and general tone of Pau Ferro but Chechen and African Tulipwood are very interesting aesthetically. Just wondering what the Roscoe community thinks about these different fretboards to complement these tone woods.
Thanks!
I've had my Roscoe for about a few weeks now, bought used. I've been playing it to DEATH! Right now my job is playing for a theater so many hours a day have been going into it. The back of the neck is already wearing through, is there a remedy for this?

How do you like the Aggie DCBs vs the Roscoe Barts? My SKB3005 has a mahogany body, maple top, wenge fretboard, and Roscoe Barts with the Aggie OBP-3. It really growls and has nice mid projection but a bit darker in the highs, definitely not bright like ash/maple. Wondered what the difference in pickup voicing was like?
Mark, That is a stunning bass.
Thanks guys. They *really* knocked it out of the park with this one.
I can only imagine what that thing looks like in person...I've yet to see a picture that can capture the true beauty of a Roscoe.
It is really easy to get an addiction to all things Roscoe Basses isn't it?
