Roscoe Club

Some ways I've seen it done:

1. Two wireless transmitters linked to a wireless receiver. Turn bass 1 wireless off, set it down, pick up the 2nd and turn it on.

2. Have your wireless transmitter in your back pocket, and kill your volume (volume pedal, probably, or a tuner mute, etc.), then unplug bass 1 and throw on bass 2, plug in and volume up. The guitarist I play with the most does this trick on the regular.

3. The one time I wanted to do something like that, I muted via a tuner pedal, undid my straplocks on bass 1, left the strap and transmitter on my shoulder, set down bass 1 and strapped on a fretless for one song, then went back. It was definitely NOT a super tight, 5-second song transition in that context, so I had time to swap. Probably 20 seconds or something.

I think that it would be easier to get a 5 string P-bass.
Or use a time machine to go back to the gig with your Roscoe and let your past self play the P Bass tunes and you future self play the Roscoe 5 on the tunes that need a 5. Marty McFly F did it in “Back To the Future” and that was way back in 1985. Should be much easier now.:D

I’ve never heard a passive 5 string where I liked the B string.

My oldest grand daughter Ellie turns 10 this month. Hard to believe that time goes so quickly! At any rate, I wrote one of my first tunes when she was born (titled simply "Ellie").
I thought with all this time on my hands now I should start back recording more at home. So, I wrote a new tune called "Ellie Kate" to honor her obtaining double digits (10; as she puts it).
I can't seem to decide what to play during the solo parts so I thought that I'd put it out on the the thread to see if any of you Roscoeheads want to take a stab at playing solo parts. I can provide most file formats (if MPG isn't a good format for you). Just let me know. I thought this would be a good way to encourage everyone to post sound clips of their Roscoe(s).

Here's a first impression, between church and Da Bears beating Carolina! Go Bears.

I’m with you there. We’re probably a minority on this forum but the Century body style is my least favorite. I’ve bought a couple but I prefer the SKB and LG.
Hold out for what you really want. You don’t want to start a bass revolving door (as some of us have; Let him that hath no sin cast the first stone). :D
I'm definitely in the SKB and LG camp. Just can't dig the Century. I know it's all personal and I'm so glad Keith has three body shapes to choose from. It seems most of the well known luthiers seemingly have one body style. So even though I don't dig the Century i appreciate the offerings

When I first played a Roscoe LG it was my favorite bass, let alone body style.

Then, I played an SKB and it became my favorite Roscoe and body style.

When I found my hands on a stunning Roscoe Century, it became my favorite Roscoe and body style.

In retrospect, having great fortune to have played Roscoe LGs, SKBs, and Centuries, I can honestly say that each is my favorite body style.

More down time = more time to play in my music room.
So glad that I finally transitioned it back to a music room (after it was my home office prior to retiring).
This is just a tune of me getting crazy OD sounds using my Roscoe (and it's also dedicated to my middle grand daughter who wanted a song after Ellie got one). I told her it's about her turning from a caterpiller into a beautiful butterfly (and she bought it). :)
With all the distortion on this one I could have played it with a Tesco Del Ray bass and you'd have never known the difference. Definitely not a song that features the wonderful sound of a Roscoe.
I think that I'm stuck in the 70's.:D
