I’m certainly in that club these days. I much more prefer std. black metal knobs.
I went down the custom knob dress-up road once and toyed with it again when I bought my new #1 bass, but was convinced that that was, again, an unnecessary trip and expense.
The black knobs with the white line marker are just perfect!
Rational thinking prevails, except when it comes to owning more #1 basses than needed!

I like the black knobs best on Roscoes. Those Sadowskly/Pedulla black knobs look great. Are they the same dimensions of the standard Roscoe knobs?

LOL...Good thing its a free country and we can all have what we want and prefer on our basses.
The set of chrome Sadowsky knobs I have suggests that they are.

It would be a good thing for the stock knobs that Keith uses to have some sort of marking to indicate the setting.

All, I am thinking of replacing the round wounds on my 90's LG-3005 (burl redwood top, Spanish cedar body, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, Bartolini pickups, 3 way eq) with flat wounds. I have a set of TI JF344s on my Precision bass and love them. Anyone here have experience with TI's 5 string set on a Roscoe?
Look into the LaBella Low Tension Flats as well. I have a feeling they would be amazing on a Roscoe. The are more even than the TIs, which have a midrange bump.
I use those Sadowsky knobs on two of my Centuries. I get them from Best Bass Gear.

On my newest Koa top Century, I used a set of John East knobs. I bought these knobs a few years ago for a Spector that I have since sold and have been looking for something to use them on since then. These knobs weigh nothing!
Interesting (to me) story about this one. When I bought it the seller weighed it at 9 pounds 2 oz which is about the highest I would go. Any more and I probably would not have bought it but man I wanted this bass so I took a chance. When I first got it I verified that his weight was indeed accurate. But, after replacing the flats with rounds, replacing the tuners with Hipshots, and replacing the knobs I got it down to 8 pounds 4 oz!! I was shocked!
Anyway....

I’ve used TI Jazz Flats on a couple Roscoes and they sound great. I also have used D’Addario Chrome flats and EB Cobalt flats and really liked them too. Flats add a cool variation of sound and feel to a Roscoe but I will say I always end up missing the nickel RW tone and eventually go back to them.
Although if you have a couple Roscoes it’s nice to have one strung with flats and one strung with RW’s.
One more note, I prefer the tighter tension of the Chromes. Cobalt flats over the TI’s but that’s just me.
Oh I like those knobs a lot. Get them direct from John East?

Oooo...I like those "Sadowsky" knobs on the Roscoe. I don't know why I never thought of that. I have them on my cheap G&L and they look great. I guess I've never really had a "problem" with the stock black Roscoe knobs. Maybe I should get a set and see. $41.50. Not cheap but they are aluminum.
They are shiny though, and my Roscoe basses aren't shiny like my G&L. Maybe the stock knobs are just fine.

I got these East knobs from Best Bass Gear but that was a couple of years ago. I don’t think they have them very often.
Weight relief and indicator lines what are the main reasons I wanted to change from the stock knobs. Of course weight relief is not major so really it’s just indicator lines.
I tried the Sadowsky style knobs on a Roscoe and didn't care for the Look of them On that bass. I would like the East knobs but haven't seen them available to purchase. Would definitely save money over the wooden knobs for sure. I wish there was more options for metal or aluminum knobs with marker lines.
So @Freddy-G., what bass caught your eye and your wallet?
