My oldest son was in this weekend from California and he took a spin through my bass stable and this was his favorite closely followed by Jim’s SKB Fretless. Kids got taste. LOL.

Not quite lol. But I sent him home with two G&Ls and a years supply of strings. And a killer double gig bag. But they will all be his one day.

Nine years ago in the old shop, playing my first made for me Roscoe. They even finished it in 6 weeks so I could have it when I came for the GTG with Jimmy Haslip. Used it for a lesson with him the following day. That was such a fun weekend.

I'd like to try a bass with those slim Bart Pickups. I've heard they sound great.

Yep. All the Barts sound good to my ear, as long as they're in a Roscoe. Of course, so much tonal variation happens just by moving right hand position. And, having enough amp juice to smack a busy kick drum down : ) is sometimes part of the secret to happiness in making it through the mix.

I’d like to have a very similar bass built. I played a Yamaha TRB6P for nearly 10 years in the Army Band. I love the skinny j6 pups. Can only imagine that Bart J6’s in a Roscoe would be fantastic.

It was. The last time I bought it back was for nostalgia. It was my first Roscoe build, lesson with Jimmy, but it just seemed dumb to have a bass I didn’t play. Maybe I never have myself time. Idk. I think I’m just not a 6 string guy, as much as I wanted to be one.

Steve I’ve done the same thing many times. No shame. Just means you really connected with that bass more nostalgically than practically and you wanted to give it more than one attempt.

Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I would have made that into a 5 string. I’d still have it for sure. It’d probably my be my #1 although my Koa 5 with soaps would be really hard to beat. I’ve played that bass almost exclusively for almost 9 years. I picked out the top for it when I was picking up the 6. Didn’t take long for Roscoe fever to hit me.

I’d like a Fretless Century Std Pl 5 with the JB Barts and the same bass in a fretted 6 with the regular Barts J’s.

Im retired now and may get both although I can’t justify it…. But that’s never stopped me before lol.
