I know that you've got custom knobs ready for this one but I've just got to say that IMO those black knobs really look great on that top. They blend nicely with the black hardware, the dark shim in the top and the ebony board. I think that the contrast is perfect with the factory knobs. Really pretty bass.
Yeah they do look nice with the metal black knobs. You barely can see it but he picked out a really nice matching Bubinga 12th fret wood inlay. He also mentioned he picked out a really nice Dimaondwood nut for this bass. The headstock has the same bubinga and sapwood combination also. Excited to get this bass and hoping he get's it shipped today so I will have it for Sunday's services.
Love that top, especially on a Century, Scott. Bubinga and 6 strings are probably the best combination, too.
Here's a great comment about evolution of a legacy in the Roscoe shop from Mr. Keith, hopefully related to a short gestation period for your bass:
" I need to figure out how to keep up with Kyle and all of the necks and bodies he's building. He is a bass building beast ! "

I'm glad to see Kyle progressing and kind of taking over some of the main details of the business as Keith is getting some years on him. They make great basses for sure. Probably the best total package basses I've owned or played.
All these build are hard to watch. I wish I had a need for a new bass. I suppose I could use a 5 string “jazz” bass of some kind. But with spending $15K on the house this summer, and gigs not quite up where they were yet, I can’t justify personal spending like that.

Is there a tonal difference with the diamondwood nut or is it just cosmetic?
I’ve had many of both and I couldn’t hear a difference. I’d say just cosmetic. But they sure are pretty!
Maybe on an open string. . Once your finger touches the string, nut material is irrelevant. . Fancy wood knobs on the other hand are perpetually chock full of superior tone.

Seems since you landed on these Roscoe Standard Plusses your turnover of basses has dropped considerably - def says something about the quality and playability of a Roscoe.
I think Jim meant Shane, not Scott. But! I did find some pictures ok my first Bubinga top Century JJ. Purchased new from Greg. Man I loved that bass. My first purchase from Greg and my first new Roscoe.

I’m thinking though that you were referencing your former JJ Roscoe (that Scott now owns) and the 6 string fretless that Scott is having built.

( and my former) SKB FL 5.
Instruments of that quality should be owned and played by someone as deserving as Scott- a great guy and a great musician
