Hipshot B is used on Standard and Standard Plus has to do with the neck build that is slightly different than the Custom and Signature (no wenge stringer)

Unfortunately many of us have all sold great pieces of bass gear and not always come out better. I guess wisdom comes with age and experience. Many don't remember their own mistakes but easily point our the mistakes of others.
geeze sorry guys I'm way late to the conversation and see it was discussed. Well since we are talking new builds I also have one almost done, an LG with that last piece of exhibition KOA for a Standard Plus. Keith showed it off on FB a few months ago. Going for the slanted barts and spalted purple heart board. (I'm trying to re create the 90's Bass Player Roscoe Adds lol) I did upgrade to matching headstock and diamondwood nut. I know people have discussed dressing up a signature plus up to a custom but the flat top vs the carved top seems to be the biggest difference and evident in the price difference. I've never had a Standard or Standard Plus but everyone on here seems to speak of them with just as much fervent. I ordered mine and paid in full several months ago so it's been awhile. I think he was in the middle of moving shops then a machine broke. Got a late start. You can't rush art

I’ve thought about recreating those early Roscoe’s that got me looking. The spalted fingerboard, slant pickups, 3 piece neck, etc. Maybe one day…
I still believe that my mid 90s custom fretless LG3005 is the best playing instrument I've ever owned. People today would scoff at the scarf joint neck with no volute), but I think it plays better than the one on my 2 year old fretted LG3005 and it's more stable.
Nothing wrong with the scarf joint. It’s a totally acceptable construction method of accomplishing the tilted head stock. And while I love the volute on my necks it’s primarily beneficial on necks withe truss rod adjustment at the head stock.
It does look nice though.
But yeah, so many factors go into producing a great playing bass (finger board leveling, fret leveling, neck pocket angle and depth, bridge type and adjustability, ….).
Bottom line, old or new, every once in a while we stumble upon one that’s magical!

How long have you used Pure Blues? I switched to them I think 3-4 years ago.
I guess I switched to them exclusively on all basses around 4-5 years ago.
It’s alright. A BEM finger board would have made it an awesome looking bass!

The best feature on this board is the Ignore feature. It takes the internet trouble makers out of the equation lol
That was fast. Less than a week from putting in my order and there is already a body with the top I picked out. I can see now why many of you all went this route. I am usually a very impatient person so starting this process was a big step and one I’m glad I took.
That’s cool. The area where the electronics dials will be is the sapwood. Artistically designed.

It’s going to be a lined Diamondwood 6 string Fretless with JB Barts.
I can’t wait to see the finished bass and it’s been less than a week!
