Agree with the pre-amp choices - you listed several of my favorites, although I would add I like Glockenklang pres as well.
However, anyone should be aware it is much more difficult to obtain other pres over the Bart & Aquilar Keith keeps in stock. I have been waiting for a month on Nordstands for 4 basses and it looks like another 3 weeks minimum before they come on.

I actually think the mismatched preamp and pickups sound great with Roscoe Basses. The Bart Quads and Nordstrand Preamp was the best paiting I played with those pickups. Also I have 2 Roscoe's with Nordstrand DC pickups. The Buckeye has Bart Preamp and the Koa has Nordstrand preamp. I believe the perfect pairing with those pickups is the Bart Preamp.

Nordstrand's business went up ten fold during the pandemic. They're working on getting more help right now.

Agreed. I can't imagine wanting to mess with mine to 'make it sound better'. It sounds so good as it is. I'd replace Amp and Cab well before anything on the bass as it's hard for me to believe any shortcomings are the Roscoe's fault :laugh:

Although in time and with more experience I could see wanting a change..maybe.

We’re not discussing shortcomings. We’re just discussing options. Keith would offer a lot more (and use to) if it was more affordable to stock the various preamps and pickups.

But I do understand you liking your bass as is. Nothing wrong with that.:)

It is great to have a master luthier who also understands the electronics and total package well enough to reccomend parts to match our tastes! Keith (or someone like Frankie at BestBassGear) are like sommeliers; you go into their restaurant and tell them about yourself, your tastes, price range, and what you've liked in the past. They bring you the wine that best matches what you said.

All that is required for success, then, is for the purchaser to have developed their own preferential ideas and accurate language to describe what they like.

Yeah, I have spoken with them. Also spoke with John East. Same situation; can’t get the pres built fast enough to meet demand. There is an overall parts shortage, I know one cab manufacturer that waited on handles for a long time. Overall world situation. Cars cant get chips for their computers, etc.
