Yeah, that floor is cool for sure...I didn't know it was walnut, though! Super interesting light (sapwood?) planks in with the darks. I think they cycle the wall decor...they have enough gold and platinum records there to do that. I'm still amazed that they let me in the joint.

You'd like this, Ray (having those guitar roots) - I also laid down an R&B track with my G&L Bluesboy 90 and some cool pedals I borrowed from an 'actual' guitar player friend! Guitar/Bass doubling day...luckily, it was sparse and 'simple'.

Well, if that beautiful floor is not Walnut it certainly looks like it! I installed Black Walnut in my man cave (family room, but it’s just me and Nightwoman, so..). The planks are cut with those various light to dark colors and if you pre-lay the floor before nailing you can arrange the boards to make nice color patterns.

I had to google the G&L Bluesboy 90. A great sounding guitar based on a couple of videos from killer players. I wanted get back into playing guitar more in a band setting and figured the keys and guitar player in the non-church band I play in would enjoy stretching out on some blues tunes. Neither guy can play blues.

You know you can show us that guitar in this thread! Joe won’t mind.

Surrounded by trees on 12 acres, so no need to cover the 6 foot windows. Window coverings only on bedrooms, baths rooms and music room, where basses are hanging.
The Roscoe basses love living here!!

6 ft windows looking into the woods - amazing! I assume this is an invitation (to whom/when, I'm not sure). I am 1/2 surrounded by 200 acres of corn/soy...we use window coverings.

So who has a 4 string Classic Roscoe P? Tell me about the neck..nut width, general shape, etc. I got a quote from Keith on a build and I will probably decide which way I want to go this weekend. I think if I do it I will ask him about oiling the neck, as the back of the neck on my Classic J gets very sticky very quickly.

The body is actually not as thick as a normal p bass. It’s 1.5 compared to 1.75 inches thick . It’s alder Pau Ferro Board 8 lbs exactly. Super narrow at the nut and light weight

I have a passive (alder body) Classic P4 (pj)…8.5 lbs, with a 1-1/2” jazz neck. Very comfortable bass—the body is sculpted nicely/sleeker than other P’s I’ve tried. I really like the feel of the neck, too…my hands don’t tend to sweat, and not much humidity out my way, so “sticky” has not been an issue. It has the Hipshot USA tuners.

I’ve not been happy with the Aguilar pickups though, so I picked up some Bart’s, that Keith is going to install for me. (He needs to cut another nut for it anyway.) Taking a chance—anyone familiar with these?View attachment 4402530

My passive swamp ash (lightest weight that Kyle could find) Classic J4 will be completed soon. I just sent him some Nordstrand NJ4SV’s for it…thought I’d give them a try. Taking a chance on those, too.

The bart 9js sound great just low output without an onboard pre amp. You may want to consider an Aguilar OBP1 boost only that pairs really well with the bartolini 9Js.

Thanks for the info/advice! My P4 is all passive/no rear cavity. I’m now leaning on just selling the bass, with the stock Aggies still installed (which have p-l-e-n-t-y of output)…. The Aguilar tone is just not my cup of tea.

I don’t like the Aguilar pickups either o have Nordstrands in mine . I have Ulyate pickups in my US Lakland and like those the best . Don’t give up on a bass just because it’s got crappy pickups! ‍. I do think they make a great boost only preamp in the OBP 1. It’s similar to the Sadowsky.
