Roundwound strings in the late '70s?

Hi

A question:

Which roundwounds (ss / nickel on steel / nickel) were available in the late '70s that _are still available today_ ?

The only ones I'm sure of are the Rotosound Swingbass in steel (did they have the nickel version then, and/or which others?)

I would also think one or more of the Fender strings currently in production were available back then?

Other brands?

What? You want an entire list? Just makes or models too?

I was switching back and forth between GHS Boomers and D'Addarios Half-Rounds at the time. So of the makes I recall off top of the head: GHS, D'Addario, Rotosound, Fender...

GHS Boomers, D'Addario XL nickles, Rotosound RS-66, and GHS Super Steels.

I don't think there are any Fender strings that are the same as the ones they had in the '70s. I KNOW they don't make anything that feels or sounds the same as the stock flats they shipped basses with then (the 850). I never liked Fender strings so I don't know what they have now. I tried one set of some Fender nickle rounds in the early '80s because Chuch Rainey mentioned them in one interview I'd read. I didn't like them any better than any other string V C Squier made.

Other stuff available then included various LaBellas, and GHS made a great nickle set they called "Gus" which was pure nickle. Probably long gone though.
