A back of the envelope bit of maths:

1. HRH Liz 2nd is 87. Lets saw she bows out at 92. (2018)

2. Prince of Wales is 64. He takes the throne at 69 and stays on until hes 90 (2039)

3. Duke of Cambridge is 31. He takes the throne in 2039 at age 57 and stays on until he's 90.

4. Prince X is 0. He takes the throne in 2072 at age 59.

I was born in 1978...the likelihood I will still be alive when this Prince takes the throne is pretty low.

I did similar math.

Seeing as nobody in my family seems to make it to the ripe old age of 65 and I'm only ten years younger than the Prince of Wales, I'll likely not be around to see the Duke of Cambridge take the throne, much less the latest royal.

Munjibunga, in reply to this I have thought of a better way to put it. Btw, I wasn't po'd just asking that people have respect and remember the Internet is not American domain.

Anyway, Forget the executive branch, that's political. The Monarch is the human face and symbol of Britain and the Commonwealth much like the flag of your country is the symbol of the USA: unmistakable.

The Union Jack is the UK flag, the maple leaf Canada's but the Commonwealth's symbol is our Monarch and as follows the heirs to that position. They all transcend the politics and conflicts of the week and speak of stability and longevity. That's the kind of respect that our Queen and family warrants. The same respect that we give to your, our neighbors, flag. Even if we may not agree with what your executive branch is up to, your flag and the constitution for which it stands will always have the respect of the decent citizens of the Commonwealth.

I'll add that the humorous names you guys are coming up with are all very entertaining. Healthy humor and disrespect are not the same thing.

What's worse - the original unfunny joke, the repeat of the unfunny joke or the person that recognised and highlighted the repeat of the unfunny joke?

I think it's a 3-way tie for last place. :D

Technically speaking we still answer to the Queen and her representative. Sooooo, we're kinda in the same boat to a certain extent ;) At least we got our constitution back in 82. Throne speeches are still given by the Governor General and there's still plenty of formalities left here and there.

Oh well, that's what we get for losing on the Plaines :ninja:

Since when? Al Gore invented it after all.

Dammit, I thought I'd scoured every suggestion. Oh well. I'll stick with Damien then.
