I heard he is dumping the jazz bass and is goung to play Hofners with flatwound strings with a pick.
He is going to be a guest mentor on American Idol for Rush Night. Can't wait to hear one of those folks cover "Bastille Day."
I heard he was stepping in for Paul Stanley on Phantom of the Opera and maybe joining Kiss too...
To REALLY complete the joke, you'd have to add that, in response, Rush was hiring Pete Wentz as Geddy' replacement.

A better april fools would have been that he was dropping the signature Jazz for a new signature Rickenbacker model. THAT would have been a major disappointment.
