RUSH Clockwork Angels

Okay, finished the book today. Here's my impression.

The writing is fair. To be honest the story is a bit hum drum with no real exciting parts. Kind of juvenile-ish. Not something I would have expected from an experienced writer, but then I'm not familiar with KJA's other books. There were many times that I wanted some expansion of details. The book would have profited greatly with some fleshing out. The insertions of lyrics and song titles seems a little forced at times, and tended to pull me out of the story a bit mentally. All in all though, it's an interesting story and could have been a great book if someone else had written it.

I had a suspicion that this would turn out to be the case. For some reason integrating Rush with other art forms often seems to have problems.

Does anyone remember that awful cartoon movie based on Rush music from years ago? Godawful:

My drummer is going to the Rush show here in the DC area today. I wish I were going, but I have tickets for the Philly show in a few weeks, which will be in a better venue anyway.

Good lord that cartoon was amazingly bad!!!! i think I'll skip this book based on the reviews so far.

Saw the guys tonight in Columbus and they were on fire. Tons of energy, lots of goofing off, having fun and they sounded great. Plus they played The Body Electric which was awesome. Best concert I've seen out of them since R30. And the strings, which I heard weren't the regulars, really rocked. The CA's material sounded really great. I have the feeling that Headling Flight is becoming the new Working Man in rocking craziness. :).

also saw them in C-bus last night. Where we were in the arena, the sound was not the best, but that was b/c of our seats (we were in the upper bowl, back corner). I loved the set list of mid 80's stuff (the stuff that old Rush "fans" hate).

I could give or take the string section...they were not i the mix very well where we were so I couldn't really tell if the ywere effective

...but every Rush concert always reaffirms the fact that Lifeson is by far the best guitar player from the 70's era, hands down

I was there too. I could hear everything well except for the bass (but when I could hear the bass it sounded really awesome!). It was the first concert I've ever been to and it was great! The string section sounded awesome and I really liked the encore. The movie they played before the second set was funny! If they ever tour again I definitely want to see them!

I was in the 7th row from the stage and everything sounded pretty good there, though I think the sound was better on the Time Machine tour. Not sure exactly what was different, but I did notice a difference. Loved all the big screens too.

Just got home from the show, row 29 on the floor. I have to say, the boys really pulled through tonight, they were tight and just great. There were a few times where the bass seemed to be kinda lost, but in tracks like Subdivisions, Where's My Thing, and Headlong Flight it was right up there. The strings I didn't hear a whole lot of except for Caravan and The Garden, but it was still a great show. The lights, the pyro, the videos, it was just awesome. I'll see if I can get a couple clips up later, I got some decent sound on my little cheap camera and caught a few good snippets.

I envy you guys that can see them now, I have to wait until next may :bawl::D
Regards the album, I like it more each time I listen to it and its constantly in my car player, I think the singing is great and prefer it to the singing on previous albums .
This is definitely one of my all time favourite albums :)

Rush just lost every bit of cred they earned in their nearly 40 year career in a 30 second ad. How dare they. It's not like Tom Sawyer hasn't been on the radio thousands of times or anything for decades now.

I'd rather see a less popular song brought to light. I'm one of those nerdy 70's Rush lovers that would much rather see anything from the 70's over Tom Sawyer. I think YYZ had more potential for air drumming though, or By-Tor.
