RUSH Clockwork Angels

Keeping in mind that these guys aren't in their 20's anymore, I would say that the shows are every bit as good as they have ever been... if not better!

I agree. Except for Geddy not being able to hit the high notes like he used to, the shows are better now than they've ever been. My first Rush show was Moving Pictures, and they were great then, but I enjoy all of the fun stuff they do now. The videos, the pranks, the goofing off on stage. They're relaxed and comfortable with themselves and it just makes for a much more enjoyable show.

I think he actually dies in the middle of the song, at right about 3:30...the rest of the song hints at afterlife. My theory anyway.

"The future disappears into memory, with only a moment between. Forever dwells in that moment; hope is what remains to be seen".
Not sure if Neil would write about such metaphysical possibilities. The theme of the rest of CA does not suggest as much anyway....

So, I gotta ask. You fellas that have seen the show, are they phoning it in or is there some genuine fire left?

My previous Rush show was the Presto tour, IIRC. The band gave a solid performance here, IMO. While perhaps not "on fire", Neil gave a finely-honed performance. Both Geddy and Alex seemed to be enjoying themselves, maybe even had a bit of fun with The Spirit of Radio and 2112.

Regarding the set lists... it appears that the band has been changing a few of the songs here and there, so I would not expect either the A or B list, at least not verbatim.

I'm not offended by it. However, I do find it interesting that they are doing it now after reading an interview some years back when they said that they wouldn't.

Just an inconsistency.

As a man who just turned 50, I can't even begin to tell you the number of things I have done, that I said I never would do!

Well said Johno ;)
I see nothing wrong with rock music in adverts, all this stuff about rock n roll rebellion and the establishment etc is so hypocritical, why should`nt a band be able to make money from their work as much as they can, even that famed `anarchist` Johnny Rotten sold his soul to do a butter advert in the UK and starred in a reality TV program, Yes Johnny, you became part of the system that you hated so much !!!!

Not mention, who controls the rights to that particular song? I about keeled over when I heard a Pogues song being used in a commercial, but I don't know if the band licensed it or if a label or someone like Michael Jackson (rip) might have sold or licensed it.

I thought a little more about the commercial - the tagline is "now you're not invisible in a midsize sedan." The guy is singing and air drumming Fly By Night thinking he is safe to do that in complete obscurity (but he isn't because he's sitting in a car that attracts attention).

Makes me wonder if the Rush choice is the producer being clever - a nod to the whole hall of fame thing. Rush being "invisible" in that particular way.
