RUSH-Geddy Lee Rickenbacker 4080/12

Before Rickenbacker made the 4080 Mike Rutherford had 2 60s Rickenbackers spliced together for a double neck Ric. Except he had the guitar on top and the bass on the bottom.

I'm on the edge of buying a Warmoth bass/guitar double neck. I have everything else I'd need other than the body itself. The only real issue holding me back is a spinal injury I wrestle with every waking moment. If my right arm (picking hand) is sortof ~kicked outward~ with the elbow sticking out it enflames the injury forcing me to take Rx pain meds for a few days, which negatively affect my life while forced to take them. So I'm a bit uncertain if I can get away with a doubleneck or not. But man would I like to have one!

Just in case anyone's interested here's a couple of shots of me in the early 90's with an Ibanez "SG" type twin neck I acquired about 30 years ago. I removed the which-neck? switch, replaced the jack with an XLR and used a floor switch arrangement to switch between necks. It also had a Roland midi pickup and GR-50 on the 6-string at the time. It's been in use again more recently for a Rush tribute thingy.
BTW, does anyone know any Alex Lifesons in Central Scotland?

AL-THOUGH.... I just noticed he has picks taped to the bottom horn of his black 4080/12 in the live shots, ready for use on the lower neck. Why would he tape them to the cream 4080/6 if he's no intention of using it?
Then again, maybe he had it readiness as a back-up.

Those guys would truly dig it. Many of them are serious Geddy freaks (like myself, I mean just look at the junk in my sig!)

Your plans sound like they will suit your rig well, which for the future seems like a great idea.

COOL! The Musical Box is great. One thing you could do that Musical Box doesn't do is try to reproduce the songs as they were played live rather than how they sound on the studio albums. I've never understood why The Musical Box goes to all the trouble to have all the visuals and everything be authentic for their live shows and then they try to reproduce the studio versions of the songs rather than the live versions, very strange.

Tony does not remember a whole lot. I actually think he plays dumb really. I have spoken with him too and can debunk a lot of his rememberings. He plays dumb on things he is sworn to secrecy to.

Here are my basses I think I have them covered:

I really wish geddy would bust out that teardrop P so we can see how "awful" it really sounds.

I'm sensing some sort of conspiracy where he really recorded everything they ever played on that bass and is just laughing about it as we try and figure out how he gets his sound. ;)

From the pics I can only see one cable...

Because I love the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass I own and use, I'm having a Fender double neck made to mirror that bass....:hyper:
Basically it will be the Geddy Lee Jazz with Alex's Strat...

Yeah, Yeah...I know....It should be a Ric, but after several years of looking worldwide for one?

So if there is ANYONE who can help with how he ran that double neck and the best way to wire it?

Tony Geranios told me that he never used the Ric-o-sound, but I know that is a lie. You cannot get that sound out of a Ric without combining the tones together. It just won't happen. Here is what I have built for my double neck Rics. I can run Ric-o-sound on both Necks and can switch back and forth. My wife did the artwork:
