Russian bass strings. Any experience to share?

As far as I know, there are only two string manufacturers in Russia: “Emuzin” (“Эмузин”) and “Mozer” (“Мозеръ”). Both of them are small companies and both are situated in the city of Penza.

Has anyone here on TalkBass ever used Russian bass strings? (I’ve never had the chance…) You are welcome to share your experience.

I would be especially grateful, if someone told me about Emuzin or Mozer nickel roundwounds (the type of strings I prefer).

Well I got a set of steel drive mozer brand strings. I'm glad I acted quick because it was right before the trade embargoes and Russia phobia nonsense. But anyway they look ok and they should be just fine. However they are very long and I didn't try stringing them because I don't have a bass that has a long enough scale. These would probably work for 35 or 36 + scale but for 34" it would put the bend past the tapers and I don't want to deal with a breakage. Something they should have done is make the b string shorter than the rest because the length from bridge to tuner is always shorter and I've broken a couple strings to know not to try going too far past the taper. With that said if you have a longer scale like a 35 or more give these a shot. they can't be worse than the Chinese no name strings some people buy.

I recall guitar Emuzin strings to be total trash.

there was also a Russian company that actually produced nice acoustic guitar strings, gmstrings (господин музыкант), if I was seeking some strings for a bass balalaika, I think, they had something. but not for electric bass or electric guitar.

what the hell forces you to use Russian strings anyway? if you're outside Russia, you've got better strings for cheaper.
