Yep, them, Byrds/Springfield beforehand, Burritos/Gram, Gene Clark, New Riders, Mike Nesmith solo, and so on. That’s one of the reasons I hate the Eagles so much.

Apart from the obvious career highlights Rusty had , my favorite performance of him I witnessed was in pre famous Vince Gill’s band opening for his wife Janis’ band, Sweethearts Of The Rodeo @ a TV taping in the 80s @ the old Cannery in Nashville. Simply amazing steel guitar.

God needed a steel player and got one of the best.

Another huge loss.:(

Poco has been one of my favorite's for years - so much excellent material, and I'm a sucker for good harmonies. We used to play Legend and Crazy Love in my band in the 80's, and I wish we would have performed A Good Feeling to Know and others a few years before when we were a country rock band. I saw a later version of the band on New Years Eve in 1999 perform at the Universal Amphitheater in L.A. opening for Christopher Cross and America. They sounded great!

R.I.P. Rusty Young.

So Anyway, Rusty played many times in our area and several of my Steel Guitar buddies got to meet him. They always said he was a good hang and very generous with his time and talent. Rusty often played at a Steel Guitar convention that was hosted in St. Louis by Scotty's Music.
Our band played a day-long benefit where he was one of the featured artists. We had some bad weather that day, but Rusty showed up and played (a couple of other 'artists' didn't). About half the folks in the audience were Steel Players.

I saw them play some really great shows back then, including front row center at the Tower in Philly in '72 or so.

Sad... he was a founding member of the Beonzee Crycue 1966-67(pronounced Benzy creek)- they were a Denver Band which had some National presence. They were a pretty big deal at the time minior hits - Still in love with you baby and The sky’s gone gray. They opened up for some major acts in Denver at that time.

They opened up for Buffalo Springfield in 1967 and that led to Rusty playing steel guitar on a few of their tunes (Kind Woman).

Later Rusty and Richie Furay went on to found Poco (with Jim Messina and Randy Meister).

I might have left out some of the characters but it was a loss to loose Rusty.
