exactly, if Mudvayne make it long term I think Ryknow will move his way into the heavy bass god pantheon with ease. Rex though? I don't think he is on a Burton or Butler level. I grew up on Burton and Steve Harris, and I think Ryknow fits in there just fine.

HAHAHA! He does look funny! I thought he looked cooler with the horns actually. I'm very far from "satanic" or any of that idiocy BTW. There cool, they give you wuite a show! I'll be seeing them at Ozzfest this year, can't wait to hear him in person.

There is one song where he shows he has real talent and actually does solo for a whole minute. The song is severed, he uses a fretless in it. My only qualm with the cd is it was recorded with the bass too quiet. He uses a lot of different techniques well. He plays with a pick, fingerstyle, slap, and if you look you can see that his fingernails are grown out. He plays fretted and fretless equally well. The first cd seems to have a different bassist on it. It sure doesnt sound like Ryknow. Did they change bassists or did they just let him shine more on the second cd? The music from Kill, I oughta is horrible. On the other hand I can't stop listening to L.D. 50... great cd and on that cd he is one amazingly great metal bassist. He gets a 1, those are my 2 cents.

Satanic? Are we stereotyping now? Looks should have nothing to do with your musical boundaries.

And, c'mon, how evil does this guy ACTUALLY look?

nope im not sterotyping, Ive seen him in about 3 or 4 different pics in magazines, and his face was red, and he had his hair shaped into devils horns, the tattoo's or whatever that is all over his chest, etc. to me thats satanic looking.

so many stereotypes in tb.
you all say u cant take anyone serious for looking like that? well thats prett sad, maybe we'd all think the same about u if we saw u. If that was the case you'd be the first to moan.

Chill out a bit and just repect the way he wants to dress!

I dont need to chill, Im totally calm and mellow right now when I type all this. I have not so much as once bashed the guys musical ability, I just dont want to listen to these guys based on their appearance, He could be the best bass player on the planet and I still wouldnt want to listen to him.

Im not bashing anyone here for liking him, but it seems Im catching a bit of flack for not liking him, seems like you need to respect my opinion on why I dont want to check them out. Everyone's got thier own opions and no ones is wrong.

My pics on my avatar, So Id imagine you did see me. So please feel free to think what you want of me Im a big boy and can take it.

Cassanova,
What do you know about satanism?

And I bet this guy isn't satanic anyways, so no need to bother. Probably just doing it for the show anyway, much like Kiss.

I know quite a bit about Satanism, when I was a military policeman, we had to go thru many classes about it, because the town our base was in was conducting many satanic rituals.

As far as doing it for the show, id agree with that, I didnt say he was a devil worshiper and in good with Anton Levey now did I? No I said its the satanic look i didnt like. This thread is starting to become one big flame now. I have my reasons for not liking or wanting to listen to them,,,I dont have any problems with it, so why do you all? Since Ive said that, ive done nothing but caught hell. To each is own, if you want to like or listen to them, go for it, im not gonna try and stop you.

Well, fine if you don't want to listen to them because you think they look quirky but I think you're missing out. That's like saying "ok i like ray charles music but i wont listen to him because he's black".

Atleast give it a shot

PS. It's Anton LaVey ;)

If I hear them on the radio or happen to catch them on MTV, then I'll check him out, Im not going to go out of my way to listen to them, and if I should somehow finding myself thinking he is a good player, then I will come back and say he's good, or have more reason not to like him.

Ryknow really is awesome. The CD is grat overall, and all his bass lines are really creative. No, they're not as painfully intricate Dream Theater's or as soulful as Victor Wooten, but he really has his own style that blows all his metal contemporaries out of the water. Oh yeah, I heard someone say Cliff Burton is overrated. Watch "Cliff 'Em All." Cliff deserves all the credit he gets. Yeah, Fieldy and Sam Rivers suck.
