Finally think I figured out the midrange honk nastiness I was getting with the demon, matamp, 215 combination. I realized that it was especially bad with my Jazz basses. The main thing I do different with my Js is nickel strings. Switched to SS strings and that seems to have smoothed things over.

Been a rough jam so far, we haven't played in months. Trying to play our first album start to finish is pure hilarity.

Just realized Pontiak is playing in Milwaukee this Friday! That's gonna be sweet!

Hopefully we can get on the Lo Pan and Whores show, still bummed about the not sharing a stage with WINO.

Yeah at this point Im happy that I'll be seeing Wino, he could gave easily played Chicago and moved right on. Maybe some of his DOOM wisdom will transfer to me.

Used a Fulltone fulldrive at last practice. Needs more saturation and less fizz. Stacked with my ultimate drive was gnarly. The darker UD totally changed the Fulldrive. Might mess with it a bit more.

Cool Vid. I love aggressive vocals done right like that. Think I love instrumental heavy stuff so much because of cookie monster or screaming vocal appearances blanketing all the good actual music going on behind the lousy vocals IMHO. Like seeing a hot chick then when she smiles she has that dead tooth and the chub instantly turns into a flub.

That kicked all sorts of ass!

Glad I'm not the only one that was amazed how nobody was chubby, bearded, or dirty. Probably explains the women...

But it rocks and does have some serious gear pornz.

Spent a big chunk of the weekend snowblowing and doing EP mixing. Mixing sucks, especially vox mixing. In more fun band news, radio interview tonight at the local college station and a gig on Friday.

Rare because they didn't sell well. But I'd rock it. The pup positions are too my liking, you got a bass cannon next to the neck and a really growly one next to the bridge. Its probably a short or medium scale as well.

That's a sexy piece right there. I'd rock it although I'd bid him down first, of course.

I've been thinking of grabbing some of the behringer clone pedals just to mess with effects I don't normally like...and not feel bad about spending money on more expensive pedals I'll never use.

The Behringer vibrato is pretty legit sounding. The dicey build quality doesn't really make it giggable, though.

ST VINCENT

Thats a link to the new St Vincent record streaming today.

Not doom or metal, but easily the most interesting person making music today IMO. Shows that you can make "pop songs" but still be super intresting, musical, intelegent, and catchy. Plus tons of great fuzz tones and huge moog synth all over the record.

I'm a huge fan of everything she's been a part of, but with 2 listens I have no hesitation saying this is her best record to date.

This show was kind of funny. Dive bar with a 3" stage and no where near enough room for a 5 piece, with a PA being propped up by high top tables and the one PA cab didn't even work. Nice reality check considering our two shows in the last 3 months had been at the Rex Theater with Orange Goblin and at the Hard Rock Cafe Pittsburgh. Forgot what it was like to not be able to hear anything else on stage

I'm good on it. Over the weekend lost my gas for it as I need to get an amp.
