Yeah that is how I think and what I have read before, the theory is a guide, but you can play outside the box whenever you want. Yeah the resolved and unresolved thing I have been dorking out to a lot, and the interval ear training, like how you can use known songs to help learn your intervals. I will dork out with a cheap tiny little Casio keyboard and do interval jumps back and forth.
