Well, i had circle K into mind but wasn't until today i realised they can be shipped to Greece ( i thought it was like-only localy distributed). As for the shipping, i may order a handful of sets so they come cheaper .
Lazarus_bird , i was digging that ndb thread on your EGC and you mentioned using chromes , what's your experience with those? Haven't used any flats except once when i was using a fretless jazz , but it was so ****** i don't even want to remember that incident .(Trying to record our demo for my hardcore band with the only available bass , custom fretless with 10$ pickups and fender flats ) . My thoughts on this are that flats are gonna hurt my hands less , but what about the low-end?

Also , my second bass , a p-bass will be ready within the next two months , so i am trying to figure which bass with which strings i am gonna use for each band. Go figure ! :P

I have rounds on all my basses out of cheapness but they are old. I prefer flats if I can dial in a tone around them.

I had a fretted jazz bass with chromes and played it into a crate TDP high gain tube pre amp into a mb200 into 2 1x15's it was a great tone.

Then for a while I had mustang bass with like thomastik flats or some other expensive brand (they had turquoise silk wraps). It was a good sounding albeit one dimensional tone and it wasn't playing anything at the time that needed dirt so I never did much though it sounded great with my dano fabtone and the chorus on the fender bxr 200 I had at the time.

For a long time I use that bxr 200 and an affinity p bass with rounds, that was a good 90's tone.

I always use my fingers, play over or near the neck.

Well, i play both finger and pick in the doom/drone project, i guess it is mandatory as an ex-guitarist for many years .

I guess i am gonna try out some flats after i settle some recordings and gigs with my rounds for the hardcore band . 30 euros for a tryout ain't cheap for a jobless student though :P
Do you think that the .105 Chrome for bottom D will be ok , or shall i find something more like .120 that i use now?

For a long time Chromes into the Bluebeard was my main sound. Never had trouble getting enough low end. They play and feel great. But in Supervoid I eventually wanted a more aggressive tone with more presence so I switched back to rounds.

Flats, especially Chromes, are higher tension than normal round wounds. You can usually get away with tuning their .110 down to C. Or at least I was able to on my Ric. I think I may have even used the .105 for that.

I just checked that drop tuning .124 set you said , looks great but the shipping is 25$ , kinda like another set. I m gonna try some chromes first and then i may order one from circle K , since it's not like i am gonna change this set for a while , so maybe 50$ for a set i am gonna keep is ok

Hey, dudes!

I'm still alive (unfortunately). Did I miss anything overly exciting? Anyone score any sweet gear?

I recently bought this limited black death synth that sounds absolutely terrifying. One of 30 made in an enclosure. It's said that within the enclosure lies the black plague. Ooooooh.

I also bought Belzebong's "Dungeon Vultures" on vinyl. I got one of the 42 ouija boards created to summon the Bong Jinn. S/D credits just went up tenfold.

If you are on the fence of flats and rounds try tapewounds. Generally they are brighter than flats though they are without allot of the roundwound "zing". Generally same or similar tension to rounds and feel awesome.
I've liked Black Beauties on a P bass in the past and really loved them with a percussive finger style over the end of the fretboard.

if price is an issue i'd definitely recommend them. once they 'break in' they stay sounding exactly the same for at least a few months of heavy playing.

the tension might not be for everyone though, but i like lighter strings and the way they 'fluctuate' in pitch with heavy hits on low strings.
