Sorry you had a bad experience with circle K Julian, I recently had a botched order.
I sent an email saying how unhappy I was with the service after years of good transactions.
I got a reply/apology within 30 minutes, and a whole set of new strings shipped out that day.
(they sent me a set of strings with different gauges than I ordered).

If that had been my experiance I would feel differently about them.

Yeah, it's pretty trippy. Neil's totally turning into a grumpy old man, Driftin Back is what I imagine a conversation with Neil is like these days. Like I'm sitting on his front porch in a rocking chair while he rambles on.
So how would you guys feel about doing a cover of a song from a band that's still active?
Our guitarist is pushing to do a cover of Electric Wizard's Mourning Prayer. It's from their first album, which is 19 years old now.
I'm against it for a couple of reasons: 1. They're still a current/active band. 2. I met Jus once and he was such an insufferable douchebag that it ruined the band for me. So I have no interest in paying homage to that guy and his band.
So, I am biased but I'd feel the same way about covering another contemporary band.
We're already covering Pentagram - The Ghoul, which kind of negates my first argument, as they're current and touring. 1985 seems a lot older than 1995 though...
Thoughts? Anyone do covers of more modern bands?

Good luck! No matter how much gas they give you...don't buy the extended warranty. If they offer you an upgrade to a third kidney though, take it. Totally worth it.
I've really been digging D Addario strings for a while now the customer service is amazing. I once tweeted that I broke a string at practice and they sent me a T-shirt. They offered to send me a new pack of strings too but I told them this pack was old anyways. I've gotten a bad string in a pack too and they sent me a replacement within a couple of days. I just shot them an email told them what happened gave the pack number and boom new string. I like to use d'addario since they're pretty affordable, sound good, and last a pretty good while. I change strings probably every 4 to 6 months depending on the bass and how much I use it.

I use stainless steel on any basses I'm playing really heavy metal or hard-core on I think it just cuts better.

I never thought the covered band had to be defunct or dead. That'd be hard to really do as bands come back from hiatus etc all the time.
Also what was just doing when you met him lol?
And joe may your nose holes be ground several sizes larger safely.
Have always liked taking really recognizable songs especially pop, lounge, or country stuff and making it a rock song. One of my bands covers Delilah from Tom Jones. The only thing Id steer clear of is the covers that everyone does like ace of spades

That rule isn't set in stone or anything.
I met Jus before an E-Wiz show, he was hanging out in the bar and I approached him to say hello and say thanks for music, blah blah blah.
He just went into a tirade about how awful everything was, the country, the venues, the supporting bands, the fans that didn't show up to their shows, the food, the long bus rides. Just a constant stream of bad attitude bitching and moaning. I finally cut him off and walked away.
Looks like Toastfuzz's band and Supervoid are gonna be moving in together on a pretty nice practice space. Considering I can't even fully stand up in our current rape dungeon without hitting my head off of something, I'm very excited.
