Had a set of flats on my Matsumoku P for a while, sounded real good, best P with flats I've heard. But I put some rounds on her now, 50-105 for drop C, that 70s Dimarzio P has got some growl to it. Overdrives preamps just right.

I have 45-100 rounds for my Ric that's at a half step down.

I have a set of d'addario chromes on my stingray, and a set of power slinkies on my sterling.

Everyone loves these guys, they will never get another cent of my money.

I recieved a shoddy product, and no response from them in contacting them via their web site, or two different forums.

IMHO much too expensive for that level of service.

CL you clearly had a one off bad experience. ive been dealing with them for years now, theyre nothing but awesome. they even accidentally once sent me a prototype set of strings that theyd been working on that theyd lost, sent my real ones overnight, i shipped back the prototypes and got 10% off. their strings are top quality and yes communication was an issue for them but im pretty sure one of the guys was like on his death bed.

youre one of the few people that has real disdain for them lol.

We tune to Drop B, I had a tough time finding a 5 string flat set, I currently have chromes on it. I wasn't thrilled at first, but they seem to have broken in pretty well. On my pbass I like the Steve Harris rotosounds which are Monel Wound. I found out that rotosound does make a 5 string set of Monel Flats, so I'm gonna try them next.

Charvel is showing up today. Tax return is in my account. Getting paid on Friday. Should be getting some money back from my insurance. Flying out to Cali on Saturday, for a week.

Those 5 string roto flats are high tension, from what I remember. I had to do some serious neck adjustments for them in A. They were pretty tight. I was so used to flopping around, I didn't like them. I would get them again down the road and get used to them on a bass set up properly though. haha
I do like the steve harris flats tuned to D standard/drop C. So that should give you an idea of where I like my tension. Drop C was to floppy for faster stuff.

This constant cold weather is wearing me down. It was really hard to get out of bed this morning. If work wasn't so busy I'd probably still be there.

Bought a bunch of seeds for the vegetable garden yesterday, and we're starting to make plans for all of that. We do a community garden plot near the apartment and and a "country garden" at my family's property about an hour and a half from here. It's exciting to be planning this stuff, but also a little depressing because it's still so goddamn cold outside.

+1 on the Tapewounds mention. Just right strings to me. Got to diddle some basses at GC and Sam Ash on Saturday and the rounds on the basses made me not want to diddle them very long, kind of obnoxious after you get used to tapes and flats IMHO. Anyway, man the build quality of Gibson really sucks now, I played that model that looks sort of like a mosrite, I dug the pickups in it but the fit and finish just felt cheap. Maybe just that model as that Epi Classic IV Thunderbird felt real well made.
Off to the hospital to get my sinus surgery, Woohoo LOL.

I'm super late to the party on that band and album. Just discovered it last year. Great stuff!

Currently listening to Neil Young and Crazy Horse - Psychedelic Pill.

Long albums do feel right today. Maybe Reverend Bizarre next?

I spent about 3 hours figuring out all the advanced audio editing tricks and shortcuts for Logic last night. Stepped up my mixing game about 5 fold. I got frustrated previously when I tried to implement some of the ideas from that Kurt Ballou class, because he was using Pro Tools. Now I can do all the little quick tricks he showed in Logic too, sweet. I was able to edit and rough mix a track over from scratch in way less time, with way better results.
