S.I T. Strings?

I'm going to buy a set of short scale, light gauge roundwounds for one of my Klira basses. For $20.00 you can't go wrong. Unfortunately they don't make any flatwound strings in any scale.

They also make a host of long scale sets for 4 and 5 string basses as well as sets for electric and acoustic guitars.

ESP and LTD guitars claim that they install them on every instrument that leaves their factories.

Anyone tried them? If so, what did you think?

yeah, but doesnt the claim of 'stay in tune' automatically make you suspicious? thats like buying a car that claims it will stay clean. i havent tried them, im sure they are good though. johnny a

No.

IME they do seem to stay in tune. So do the other brands I use but hey, it's accurate in my case.

I left a bass in it's gigbag in the trunk of my car for a week (in my garage). Took it on a gig Sunday night and right out the bag it was still in tune.

I've tried three different sets of S.I.T. strings.

And just don't like them.

But can't give solid reason why?

Feel, tone, just does not seem right.

I've talked to a lot of players who dig them?

Maybe, just me?

Hell, I figure for $20.00 bucks for a set of 45-95 short scale roundwounds I've got nothing to lose. I usually pay $60.00 for a set of Hofner (Pyramids) for my Klira basses.

Thanks for all the feedback above, it's greatly appreciated.

I'll let you know what I think of them once I get them on one of my basses.

Awful. I bought 3 7 string SIT packs since I couldn't get Snakeskins locally (Which I think are repackaged DM sr2000's anyway?), and the F popped before I even got it up to pitch. Granted, I sweat battery acid, but these things were visibly darkened after a single rehearsal, and I wipe mine down anyway.

If anyone is in the Nashville area, I'll meet you anywhere and give you a couple of 7 string SIT sets for free - just PM me.

I use the Rock Brights on my Laklands and they are not as bright as the DRs when they're new, but they hold their tone for a long time. I think you'll lie them and like you say, for $20 it's not like you're going to go broke answering the question yourself.

The SIT powerwound nickel were stock on G&L for some time-tho I think they've switched to DA XL170-and stock on Reverend as well.

I like 'em well enough; fairly bright and grindy, nice pricepoint.
