I just noticed that I have seen pics of your SUB's... How are they working for you???

Well, I have had the SUB5 for a while now, but I don't play much 5-string, and I have never gigged it. I'm positive it would be good, if I played 5-strings more. I have used it at rehearsal sometimes and... well, it's a Stingray. It has the pickup wired in parallel, rather than series as most SUBs , so it is just like a Stingray.

The new one, the 4-string SUB... well, I have only played it less than an hour. First impression is great. Rehearsal tonight, she's coming with me. I'm curious to see how I feel about the extra midrange punch this bass has over my Stingray (I imagine the SUB is wired in series).

@Mcnach the white and cream actually looks great but black rules on SUBS.

 Gauntlet, thrown.

I will say that when it comes to light colored basses I prefer the SUB's finish first, followed by the nitro finish (like on my Hwy 1) followed by an aged finish (like on my '59). But definitely the SUB in white looks best.

Maybe I'll play the Hwy 1 tonight - along with my CHARCOAL SUB-5 - because CHARCOAL SUBS RULE! :D :bassist:

here is my 2004 SUB5 with a decal I found at wal-mart for twenty-five cents which I thought would make a good thumb rest and it goes along with the diamond plate pickguard. I kind of like that pickguard. Anyhow I'd like to join the club because I think this is a great bass probably the best Bass I've owned. My other bass is a Carvin B5 which is a different enough bass to the point I would consider comparing them the same as comparing apples and oranges.

number please
Felix

Very nice! The stickers definitely add some flair to that pick guard!

#31 is all yours. Wear it with pride!

Interesting thumbrest! :)
My SUB5 is like that, only I put a black pickguard. But silver/black is not bad. I think black SUBs are the only ones where the original pickguard is not entirely out of place.
Shiny!!!

So tonight, I'm switching back and forth between my SUB-5 and my '75 RI Jazz with custom shop pups... I was playing the Jazz mainly because I just got the neck setup and frets dressed by my fav luthiers here in the LBC. Even though the '75 RI is nearly 4 times as much, I still get the compliments on the SUB. "Nice sound...", "You really nailed that Sublime tone...", "that bass looks bad-ass~" Heck, my old 'Ray didn't get this kind of love...

I just love my SUB. I think someone took some pics tonight; maybe I'll upload a pic when I sober up (much later...)

Cheers.

In other news... I just picked up a set of these for $18...
Amazon.com: DR Strings NGB5-40 Coated Nickel Bass Guitar Strings, Light: Musical Instruments

The green neon should look pretty cool on my charcoal SUB-5! :hyper::bassist::hyper:

I'm kind of partial to #34, so sign me up!

Recently scored this 2003 SUB4 active from the local CraigsList but she needed some TLC, a good setup and strings.

The painted neck does not bother me at all and I really like the indestructible black body and the replacement white pickguard looks classy too.

Had to re-solder the input jack because it was cutting in and out but I knew something was wrong with it when purchased. Also sanded the pre-amp corners just a bit to keep the wires from squeezing.

Overall a great USA bass and a great local buy!

Nice combo; almost tuxedo-like in black and white... Love those action pics, too!!!

#34 is all yours, Dave!
