S.U.B. Club

Sounds like u wouldn't mind selling it to me..:D

What, are you hooked now? LOL. I like that dark gray 5'er you just picked up besides, you would not like my SUB any way it's the teal one everyone would take last even over blood vomit red or purple. It's the last one in the rack the Epi Viola was behind it, but my wife stuck it in the front.

Don't think I want to know!! :hiding:

I had some LaBella flats on my SUB but just last week strung it up with some old DR Lowriders I pulled off my #1 bass. DANG!! That SUB sounds good!

The neck on mine is sa-WEET! At first I thought it might be too "straight" with not enough relief. But I was wrong! Action and intonation (Maybe because of the compensated nut?) is very easy to dial in. Got it playing like buttah!! Cures my 'Ray GAS for sure.

Did I mention I got it for $300? WITH an original HSC?? Don't hate me.

I don't exactly hate you.... Wild screaming envy at the price, for sure.

Hsc? There was one? Mine all had nothing but aftermarket gig bags.

SJ Bass, may I have a number. I am not a biggest SUB fanatic, I prefer my Stingray over my SUB mainly because of the painted neck and I really do think my Stingray sounds slightly better, but I do not own a classic with the 2 band pre amp. I don't want to sand the paint off. I do like the EBMM SUB, but it just sits in my bass rack. I can't find the SBMM SUB club maybe I will start one. They are good basses too with a little work put in to them also fun to play and not really worry about it.

Sure thing. #47 is yours...

Don't feel bad because one of the best kept secrets is just sitting in your rack. Someday soon, you'll pull it out and once again you will realize what the love is all about.

truth. I found a 5er at a pawn shop last weekend. It was a teal 5er so I kept walkin.

I'm calling sarcasm on this post ;-)

They wanted $600 (typical over-optimistic price for a pawn shop) and I really didn't feel like haggling over a price for a bass in a color I can't stand.
Let me tell you how much I hate teal. I took my ex gf to victorias secret and bought her a dozen bras so I could throw out her teal ones. (She was my non-ex at the time and actually that sequence of events was reversed).
I took 3 months to find a subaru on craigslist because all the Outbacks and Imprezzas for sale were teal!
I really, really hate teal.

Used my sub on a couple of gigs this past week. (It's been my backup.)

Things plays great! Sat in the mix well. Not a whole lot to dislike about this bass. Except the butt-ugly color!

Did I mention I got it for $300? And that includes a nice EBMM HSC???

Lmao!!..Well I like the teal if u ever want to sell it..let me know!

Edit: I get it u don't like teal...lol

FWIW, I actually like the teal...:ninja:

And I'm posting here because I'm seriously looking at two used S.U.B.s (one on TB and one on eBay) because I want to get the Stingray sound for not a lot of cash. I would also prefer to get one of these USA made S.U.B.s over the new "Sterling by Music Man" models.

So, I came here to ask a specific question about the neck before I buy. When it comes to MM basses I prefer the Sterling nut width/profile over the Stingray, because I have smaller hands. My two other basses (a Fender Kingman and Ibanez SR600) have narrower profiles, and I'm very comfortable on them. So, I was wondering if the S.U.B. was Stingray-esque, or a little thinner. I know they sell "S.U.B. Sterlings" but I hear they're pretty hard to find (I only ever see "S.U.B. Stingrays" for sale).

Long question short: is the S.U.B. reasonably comfortable to play (I know it's really all up to personal preference, but I'm asking for your opinions), or would I be better off saving for a Classic Sterling/SLO Special/etc.?

Thanks for your help! :bassist: :D

I paid that for my fretless 5. 30% of the price of a classic 5 fretless. Worth every cent! I'd pay $600 for a teal sub5!
