I would say so my fiver SUB feels very jazz like. .and I dont have big hands..I think you should be fine..

Okay, thanks a lot! Since I can't try it out before I buy it I figured it would be good to ask...might be a part of this club soon!![]()
Do it?
Is that a question or a demand?
The ebay auction ends in three days...no bids yet, waiting it out and seeing if it's worth it. Looks to be in pretty good shape, plus it comes with a case.
You looking at that black passive? I heard the actives are better but I could be wrong
The original (black) listing I was looking at didn't say if it was active or passive but 1) I trust your judgement and 2) it doesn't have a battery cover...something I overlooked before.
Usually a pretty good indicator of something being passive...FWIW, I actually like the teal...
And I'm posting here because I'm seriously looking at two used S.U.B.s (one on TB and one on eBay) because I want to get the Stingray sound for not a lot of cash. I would also prefer to get one of these USA made S.U.B.s over the new "Sterling by Music Man" models.
So, I came here to ask a specific question about the neck before I buy. When it comes to MM basses I prefer the Sterling nut width/profile over the Stingray, because I have smaller hands. My two other basses (a Fender Kingman and Ibanez SR600) have narrower profiles, and I'm very comfortable on them. So, I was wondering if the S.U.B. was Stingray-esque, or a little thinner. I know they sell "S.U.B. Sterlings" but I hear they're pretty hard to find (I only ever see "S.U.B. Stingrays" for sale).
Long question short: is the S.U.B. reasonably comfortable to play (I know it's really all up to personal preference, but I'm asking for your opinions), or would I be better off saving for a Classic Sterling/SLO Special/etc.?
Thanks for your help!![]()

Yep, that's the one! [DEL]There's also a red (wine vomit purple?) one for sale, but it has a few dings and the black on the back of the neck is completely stripped. I believe it's active, but I'd rather get the passive one which is in better shape...[/DEL]
...unless, of course, the passive S.U.B.s are in fact worse than their active counterparts. Anyone else want to chime in?
Edit: The red one is passive as well. The original (black) listing I was looking at didn't say if it was active or passive but 1) I trust your judgement and 2) it doesn't have a battery cover...something I overlooked before.

IMO, the 2 band preamp of the SUBs is what makes them a "Stingray" - I wouldn't buy one without it...

I wonder if u can buy a pre amp and put a battery in the control plate cavity..funny though selling the passive basses as much as the actives..imo the actives are the most sought..
I just did a trade on a 2003 Red S.U.B. bass. It is active and all original. It will be here tomorrow....
i didn't see this posted anywhere but here's a link to the original thread announcing this discontinuation of the USA SUB line..

Nice! I think you'll be pleased, if not surprised, at how great an instrument you have.
FWIW, I actually like the teal...
