S.U.B. Club

If he is willing, you should jump on that Quick Draw. Any color is better than black. IMO black is like going to Basken Robbins and picking vanilla.

haha agreed.... I love my black (or whatever they call it in sub-land) sub5 with black pickguard, my main bass until today when I got my carvin (so probably still tied for main), but it just looks so death metal to me LoL. tough looking, but not unique or memorable or differentiating.

I received my S.U.B. and I want to give my first impressions...First off, I have owned two Stingray's so I believe I can compare the S.U.B. with them. My S.U.B. has a born on date of 07/01/03, making it a first year S.U.B. First thing I noticed was the slab body. I am used to having a belly and arm cutaway, not a big deal. I am not sure what I think about the paint/color. It definitely is different, especially the textured paint. Another thing is that crazy Diamond Plate pickguard. I don't know if I like it or not, but it is original and I am probably going it keep it that way. Now onto the bass itself...I did a complete setup on the bass and all I can say is it plays fantastic. The neck feels exactly like my old Stingray, which I love. The electronic are spot on, again same as my old Stingray. I really love the two band preamp...it really hits the sweet spot. With all that said, I am very pleased with the bass. It feels good, sounds great, and is a heck of a good deal if you can find a good one used. I can see why people keep these basses...Its hard to find this quality for such a great price.

My S.U.B. is a 2003/4, (I will get the exact born on date from the Ernie Ball forum shortly). First thing I noticed was the slab body. I am used to having a belly and arm cutaway, not a big deal. Yep im really enjoying my SUB5 and having serious GAS for a 4 which im getting at eom

The first I noticed about my sub was the fretwork..nice and smooth I have a mim jazz deluxe and a am spec honey p and while the honey p isnt as bad as the mim jazz deluxe they both feel like im playing on a saw with those sharp fret ends..but the sub neck feel great..at least to me

It's funny you bring up the fretwork, when I was doing the setup, one of the first things I had to do was level the frets. It had some high spots from about the 15th fret up. Now that they are level, it plays fantastic with very low action and a very buttery feel.
